Good day,

I am a techno-virgin as an old hack once put it and need some advice. I have built like 4 Pc's for myself, installed my own motherboards, setup SLI and RAID, etc etcso I have some knowledge what I'm doing, but I haven't upgraded in 2 and a half years and I'm not clued up on the new cases. I spend R900 on a POS Antec Case when I did build the last one that I absolutely HATE. It is just cr@p, no space, flimsy design, loud as a tumble dryer etc. I see the antec 900 is good and quiet etc, but I'd rather stay away.

My question is, since I'm rather no too clued up on cases, is What is in your opinions the best case for around R1000 or cheaper and your reasoning :)

All replies are welcome, you can even flame me if you like, thanks!

Look that those cheap handel cases. About R450 with a 350/400W psu.
Lots of space in them.

I have a 1000W in my case...so I was thinking something like a Thermaltake/Coolermaster/Aerocool type, not the no name brands.

I like the Cooler Master RC 690.

It's has plenty space inside, and plenty of space for cooling (takes up to 7 120mm fans). It also has removable HDD racks, cable management, an eSATA front panel connector and a tool free design. It's good looking as well.
The power supply also sits on the bottom. If you get a two-fan power supply, it will pull cold air out from the bottom of the case, and straight out the back. Good for airflow as it eliminates the power supply from the list of heat sources within the case.

awesome, thanks, looks nice as well, 21dBA ain't all that bad either I guess. Sure with 7 fans it might be a bit louder.

I have the Raidmax smilodon, I can highly recommend it. It is built solid, heavy but solid as a rock, no flimsy plastic rubbish. Nice solid magnetic door which closes. Also comes with 5 fans which was a nice selling point for me. BUT that’s not all :D One of the nicest things about it is the pull out MB tray, man what a pleasure to install, and also a pleasure to clean. They go for about R900

Thanks again...and the noise? is it bareable? since I have my Pc in my room, and I download overnight. Is there disco lights, like these damn Thermaltake expansion fans I got?

The MB tray is a HUGE plus, since I will be upgrading my MB sometime soon and its a hell of a pain

I have disconnected 2 of the fans, basically the smaller ones on the see through panel, to kill noise as well as the bright LCD's on the fans. So yeah it is not to noisy, but not dead silent either.

Cool, can only be better than mine (sounds like a hot car's radiater at full tilt, lol. But I must have a look at both these cases. Thanks guys.
