So I want to develop an Android app, hopefully to publish to the market at a few dollars a pop and make profit
Problem is I am not a programmer. At best I'm a copy/paste/modify scripter with a basic sense of how OOB works and absolutely no Java or Eclipse IDE experience. My biggest claim is a C# app that polls a directory for a specific file and then displays a popup when its there, plus a basic picture to html converter together with size and what not. It took me 1-2 months with zero C# knowledge to pull that off but I had time during business hours for it. So yes I guess I can "code" but not all that well and certainly not for the mobile platform.
With about an hour a day to spare at best...say if I cut into my sleep time, and if I stay motivated at it, do you think I should try pursue it on my own? I'm very busy most of the time
Or do you think I should try contacting a freelancer and funding it privately? I see there is something called ODesk that does this?
I have no idea how long the project will take if done by a skilled programmer. It will involve a user populated list of sorts, dates, notes, headings, status and possibly some interaction with the calendar. So yes, admittedly it is yet another "to do" list application that could be drowned out by all the others. However I'm hoping that a few quirks I've picked up from experience in handling a flurry of tasks and projects I think it might set it apart from the others. Plus I have a killer easy layout plan
