Advice on 2nd hand car

I am looking into replacing my jazz and I had this model and year before as reference https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/used/2009-Honda-Jazz-1.5i-Ex-Gauteng-Centurion/2582738/

I am looking at this one as a possible replacement -> https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/used/2013-Honda-Jazz-1.3-COMFORT-SPOTLESS-CONDITION-GREAT-CAR.-Gauteng-Randburg/2011415/. It looks great and its < R95000

Is anyone familiar with the 1.3? City driving shouldn't be a problem but I do long hilly trips on occasion.

And I love the jazz so not really looking into other makes and models...
 
Great car. But I'll just say it. The kilos on that car is properly high for an '13 model. 135k kilos for 4yr old car is an average of almost 34k kilos a year.

yea, though at one point I was driving those kilometers so Im not fazed by it too much.. I am more interested in how well it was maintained.
 
Is there something wrong with your Jazz? If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

That being said, the facelifted styling is a lot more appealing but you'll be losing out on a few features, climate control and USB connectivity come to mind, which your 1.5 has and the 1.3 won't.

I do however not see any issue with the high mileage as it often indicates that the car has done mostly longer trips which end up in relatively low mechanical wear as opposed to shorter trips.

it was written off *sigh*... thanks, its these subtle differences i need to keep in mind, I better make sure I get that dongle too that came with aux port..
 
The 1.3 is not that bad and can cruise well above legal speed limits on highways without difficulty.
You will however need to "plan" passing other cars and gear down/speed up before for hills on the highway as the engine does perform best above 4500rpm. i.e Not enough torque to keep your speed in 5th @ 120km/h in hilly highways.

Good price on the 2013 model listed, have seen 2012 1.3 Comfort's listed for R120k - R130k.
 
I had the 1.5

Town driving was fine, long trips was ok but at times it felt like it was a bit of a chore to maintain higher speeds especially with a loaded car and passenger(s).

The SO has a 1.2 NA car and it's fine for town but useless on the open road.

Based on the 73kw quoted above that 1.3 is closer to her 1.2 than the 1.5 so basically...no, it's probably going to be crap on the open road.

EDIT: 1.5 is 88kw
 
Thanks guys, I think Im going to go for a 1.5 in the jazz model rather...

im ubering at the moment and quite liking it so in no rush to buy :p
 
Personally I'd rather get a 1.2 turbo charged Renault Clio. But I never liked my Jazz so biased.

why didnt you like your jazz? the engine was ok for my needs but those magic seats were awesome...

Not sure if it's all newer Jazz's or if mine was just a dud, but it had endless rattles and squeeks. I've posted this on the forum somewhere before but I took it back three times within the first seven months to fix it. Messy work (like double sided tape showing), not fixing the issues and servicing the car without me asking.... just no.

That's Honda Rivonia specifically.

Back to the Clio - it's just a much nicer looking car both inside and out. The magic seats of the Jazz are great and it came in handy once or twice, but unless you are going to be carting around servers and furniture it's really not a deal breaker IMO.
 
Resale value Clio vs jazz.

But I do agree with you Clio better looking compare, to jazz plus Honda still bit behind when it comes to tech stuff.
