Hi people anybody who plays WOW out there

I'm not a WOW player but a colleague of mine is looking to get ADSL for the purposes of playing WOW, he will probably do about 3GB's a month. Is it worthwhile getting one of the shaped uncapped products or should he rather go with an unshaped capped product?

Thanks

Might be better if you post in the WOW section.

I use the MWeb uncapped, which is ok for normal questing and some HC's, but for raiding i use a WebAfrica shaped/unshaped account as they give better priority to WOW.

Unshapped capped ;)

You going to use about 20 meg per hour to play wow maybe slightly more when you raiding

For questing and 5 man instances any account will be fine when you start raiding you can look at the unshapped accounts

Go for the mweb uncapped I heard its not to bad with wow

There is also the latency fix for windows that will reduce your latency quite a bit its a good idea to do this

The latency fix effects large file downloads thou there is a little package you can download to enable and disable it on the fly, as for wow i used to be a heavy wow player (5 years), and i played on 3g->adsl, WA's shaped products perform BETTER than there unshaped, i mean the difference in ping vs cost minimal, you could also use a service called lowerping which would route your connection through a tunnel and redirect the stream to the wow server (www.lowerping.com). Currently my gf still plays now and then and we have mweb uncapped, the latency is also dependent on the server he will play on Spinebtreak i used to get terrible latency in the 800's, ravenholdt(my home) i get about 350, i transferred my paladin to dunemaul and i get about 220 with lowerping, 300 without.

@DjStyles - he was inquiring about an ADSL package, so its the right section.

Get a WebAfrica Prepaid Unshaped Account. It works nicely for wow.

Any regular IS or SAIX shaped / capped account & http://www.gamemax.org/

I usually get between 260ms - 320ms while raiding ICC.

unshapped at R90 a gig.. lol not a chance.

lol - you are willing to pay R69 per month for game max yet you don't want to spend R90 every 2 months on a prepaid unshaped account. You don't use the prepaid unshaped account for normal internet access, only for raiding/wow. How much bandwidth do you think wow uses?

My advice is go for capped unshaped.

I have afrihost - on a 5GB semi shaped account.

I got kicked from my guild recently because I had around 13 Disconnects in less than an hour, we were raiding ICC 25 and I had over 4 000 ms.

Yes I do, because since I've had gamemax, they have never billed my credit card :P
