Kill me now.... After months of research I finally come up with the perfect build for me. But then Sandy Bridge came along and craped all over it so I need advice please on the changes I should make. Here was my build its for gaming.

GPU: 2 x Radeon 6950
CPU: i5-2500K
CPUC: Coolermaster Hyper 212
MOBO: Asus-p8p67 Pro
RAM: G.Skill RipJaws X 4GB
PSU: Corsair HX750W
MONITOR: 2 x Philips 234EL
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
CASE: AeroCool X-Predator
SSD: OCZ 120GB (Gonna decide on my SSD at a later stage)
Full detail: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc...uaHhVX2poZThMZGc&authkey=CPu4y6UJ&hl=en#gid=3

EDIT:
The changes I have made are:
CPUC
RAM (RipJaws X great value for money)
PSU (had extra cash so decided to get modular)

My last PC I got had compatibility issue and constantly gave me BSOD so if you disagree with any of the choices please tell me.

Thanks for the help

Your build problem mirrors mine.

Surely the mobo designers just had to modify existing designs or did they have another plan?

What is the advantage of a single 12v rail on that PSU?

It also isn't modular - but has long cables.

Hyper-threading isn't need if you're mainly going to use the PC for gaming.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, seeing that I had i7 940 with 2x GTX 460 so I won't be upgrading to Sandy Bridge just yet :(

I prefer the MSI X58A-GD65 over the Gigabyte motherboard, due to the spacing of the PCI-E 16x slots + its cheaper.

Honestly, I don't know will research it tomorrow and get back to you on that.

In regards to x16x16 and by not having it will it be detrimental. I answered my own question and the answer is no. Look at the article below, it shows the performance difference and it is minuscule.

Thanks Pada then I am defiantly going to get the i5 2500k.

Going to try find out which Sandy Bridge motherboard offers the best value for money and will get back to you guys.

Remember that sandy bridge is the upgrade to socket 1156, not 1366. That's why the motherboards aren't as good.

Ok have updated my build above to include Sandy Bridge, btw from what I have read the Asus p8p67 Pro is defiantly the best value for money.

Dude that PSU must go, do you have any idea what a nightmare the extra cables are? I bought a corsair 750w because it was 250 cheaper, OMG what a nightmare.

Do you have a case with "cable management", where you can hide the cables behind the motherboard tray? Because if you do, then that shouldn't be an issue.

If you're buying a "future-proof" PSU, then you will have way more cables than you need, which is why it would be better & cheaper to buy just what you need instead.

Yup i have an awesome cable management case. Haf 932. Trouble is there are so many cables it is horrific. If someone had just said to me how crap it was i may have avoided buying it.

IT IS fKING CRAP, buy modular!!!!!! :D

Well by the looks of it, that case has better cable management then the HAF-X let alone the 932 so cables should be no worry. Believe me, I have more cables then most people in my build as I use all the cables basically that came with my 850W + extensions + splitters, and with a little bit of planning, it's not a hassle at all.

:D I think I will be able to live with extra cables seeing that its such a huge case. Unfortunately don't have the extra cash to buy modular.

I have updated my rig for hopefully the last time. I plan on purchasing it within the week, but I can still make last minute adjustments so any comments will still be appreciated.
