Advice on my upgrade

I'm planning to upgrade shortly, mainly for gaming. I play WOW and a bit of COD2.
Firstly, where to shop. I'm currently looking at www.computersonly.co.za
Anyone done much shopping with them? Good or Bad?
The site looks reasonable and user-friendly, if a little short on choice in some depts.
Current list is:
Antec P180 Case R1535
Antec Truepower 2 480 R860
Asus A8NSLI Deluxe Mobo R1499
AMD64 3500 939 R1699
Corsair VSelect 1GB DDR400 x2 R1800
Gainward 6600GT 256 R1799

Thats a 9 grand upgrade, quite a lot for me. Can i get it much cheaper elsewhere? I was thinking about going for a cheaper case, but i have had quite a few overheating issues lately, and this case with its fan placement etc would knock that problem on the head.
Also, i've read on 1 forum that these Asus boards can have conflicts with some PSU's. Any comment on that?
Also, i was hoping to go for a 6800 instead of the 6600, but this site doesn't offer a single 6800 board, and of course, it would be dearer.
Is the CPU going to have enough juice? I would have liked a 4000, but it costs too much.
Any comments would be great.
 
I purchased a computer upgrade from Computersonly late last year.

Service & prices were excellent - based on my experience I can definitely recommend them
 
You might want to send them a mail or give them a call, specify the list above with things like the 6800 replacement and ask for recommendations or alternatives. Most components of my last purchase there (full pc) was either not listed or better priced than the listed ones. Re. shopping experience...been shopping there for some time now (6+ years) and I keep going back.
 
Dump the SLI motherboard and put the money saved towards a better graphichs card (6800 or X800). The CPU should be fine for your needs.

None of the components you have run that hot, so you should not have too many heat problems. A normal case with maybe an extra 80mm or 120mm (depending on case) fan should be fine in my opinion. You can maybe use some of the money saved on the case for improve the CPU a bit as well.
 
Yea definatly dont get SLI unless you going to use it!
Any reason for needing 2Gigs of RAM?
 
Thanks all for the advice. I might just ditch the SLI board as advised. If so, what should i get? The site offers only the ASUS range and 2 DFI boards. I can save about R250 if i take the bottom of the range ASUS at R1250.
As Dom says, the RAM is needed for WOW, i'm not slacking on that one, though i wish i could afford the pro series.
Ok, i might just keep my present case, a good quality Chieftec i dragged over from the UK with me. I'll definitely have to change the PSU though, for the PCI-e card, and its only 350w.
I'll give them a call as advised to find out if they have any stuff not listed, though i think the 6600GT will still be a great upgrade from my ageing Ti4200. I'm reasonably keen to get all my gear from 1 spot, less hassle, i think, and probably save on delivery charges.

Your prices are competitive and i'll certainly be taking a closer look.
The only issue i have on those well priced top-ranged Asus boards is that the chipsets are heatsinked with no fans. I'm not convinced they can hold it together with our summers down here in Ape Town.
What do you think?
 
Should be fine, they run cool most of the time. Never had a problem with any of them overheating. The heat pipes seem to do the work well.
 
I got the Asus A8NSLI Premium Mobo really good mobo my brother got the deluxe version and those fans really do look silly on the mobo :D
 
Strobemeister - Any reason why you'd want to spend R2400 on Case and PSU?
Buy a decent case for R500 and you've got R1900 saved, which you can spend on a better graphics card or an upgrade to 19' TFT?!
Dont waste money on Motherboard features if you are not going to use them or benefit from them.
 
i fully agree geez like it thats really silly to spend so much on a case and psu

all you need is something like a gaming bomb keeps it really cool
buy a 500 watt power supply for under 600

and as tomasz said get a 7800 gt or something
