Hi, since no one is answering the other thread, let me post it here

m looking into building the following PC

MB - ASRock Z87 Extreme3 Z87 - R1700 - http://www.wootware.co.za/asrock-z8...mania&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=direct_link

CPU
- Intel Core i5-4570 Haswell Processor - R2233 - Esquire
Ram - G.Skill RipjawsX, 16GB (2x 8GB) kit, DDR3-2400 - R1947 - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=11289
PSU - Thermaltake LitePower, 650w - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=5675
Box - Zalman Z3, Midi Tower - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=29&products_id=10731

The graphics card i will get later, i have a HIS - Radeon 6970

Can i ask why you guys are all preferring the 2133 ram above the 2400?
And before anyone asks why im getting a Z MB when i'm not getting a "K" CPU, its basically if i want to run crossfire in the near future and it supports 3000+ MHZ ram, the H and B MB's rarely goes above 1600MHZ.

Or am i missing something?, this is my first upgrade since my 1.8Ghz Core2Duo :D

Just to answer the RAM question: high-speed 'gaming' ram is a waste of money. The difference in speeds between 1800Mhz and 2400Mhz is un-noticable, except for the cost.

Defiantly get the K version of the CPU, it makes no sense getting the non K version if you can afford it.

You are looking too much into the speed of the RAM, speed of the RAM offers little to no difference in terms of gaming performance.

I'm funnily enough in exactly the same boat as you: looking to make the jump from Core2Duo to Haswell!

I think your picks are pretty much spot-on. As Pox says though, the RAM frequencies don't actually mean that much that high, so I'd see if you can cut any costs with that in mind (cheaper mobo?).

Thanks for the replies.
Well basically it does not matter if i get the 1600 or 2400 ram since its only R20 price difference.
Is it then really worth getting the Z mb?, Crossfire does not make that huge difference does it?, wont it be better to buy 1 really good graphics card that 2 average cards on crossfire?

Or should i keep the Z board and just get the K CPU like Vanhimself said?, will probably be a little more future proof.
