Advice on PC Build

R2750 - Intel Core i7-4790
R1799 - Asus H97M-Plus Intel H97 LGA1150 Micro-ATX Motherboard
R1565 - Corsair CMX16GX3M2A1600C11 XMS 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1600MHz 1.5V CL11
R5499 - PowerColor PCS+ AXR9 390 8GBD5-PPDHE Radeon R9 390 8GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 GPU (Or Galax GTX 970 EXOC Black Edition 4096MB)
R1599 - Super Flower SF-750F14MG Leadex 750W 80 Plus Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU (Semi modular is cheaper but out of stock)
R1899 - Samsung MZ-75E250B/AM 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III SSD
R1299 - Microsoft Windows 8.1 64bit Single Language Operating System - DSP Pack
R13660 TOTAL

Pick whatever chassis you fancy with what's left over. This is a much more powerfull build than what you initially listed.

Edit: I forgot the CPU cooler, any cheapy will do, might even get a stock free one from someone here on the forum if you ask.

That's pretty decent.

Awesome stuff, thanks for the help guys!!!

WHAO!

My total price is wrong I only listed the wootware basket & did not add the cpu price. R16410 is the actual total.

I'll try and rework the build to get closer to R15k!

Sorry about that.

My only tip would be do not ever get a AMD card when you have an Intel CPU. Please OP stick to Nvidia, no matter how smooth the sales guy talks, do not get an AMD card. They might look better on paper but for gaming nvidia is the way to go.

Just drop the 390, to a the 380. The 380 is GCN 1.2 anyway.

Why would AMD have their graphics cards work worse with the CPU's of the dominant chip maker on the planet?

Not very bright...Halogen :p

DX12 still has a lot of work. So too early to really say.

Gears of War remake will be dx12, but I personally wouldn't buy a card specifically for it. Not yet anyways.
Most game DX 11 anyways atm.

But if your willing to fork out the extra, wouldn't hurt. I just got an AMD card to see Lara's hair, not creepy at all.

:D tressfx actually looks better to me than hairworks and runs just fine on my nvidia card, the hit is also less than hairworks I suspect.

No worries picked it up and looking at dropping the GFX to a GTX960, R9 280x or R9 380

LOL you are drunk.

Currently AMD has Direct12 support that nVidia can only dream of. If you want to lose FPS then you go nVidia.

There seems to be mixed information regarding whi fully supports DirectX 12

Ok to everyone wondering why I said do not go with AMD is, why buy a card from a graphics card maker that is hanging on by a hair. They are going bankrupt. The only reason they are still in the market is since Nvidia is not allowed to have monopoly. Secondly, AMD do not manufacture their own CPUs. Don't believe me, do some research. Intel > AMD for that reason, there is not even a competition. AMD have sub optimal funding, against Intel's major funding and Nvidia's funding. Btw AMD's Project Quantum uses a i7..... maybe you are starting to see the bigger picture?

After some research looks like AMD is the way to go for DX12

Completely different build from what I originally planned, just need to research the case which may put me in at around R15.5K which should be okay if I avoid food for a while...

Intel Core i7-4790 R2750

Chevron you are blinded. Just because someone has a different point of view they are a troll? Anyways all the best with your decision RVQ. Some of us do run AMD cards and thus have an opinion.

Think your wasting money on the power supply though, you can get the 600w SF for R500 less which is just as sufficient.
Can't say much about the board though.

Also if you sacrifice one of the 8Gigs along with getting the 600w, you can almost jump to a GTX 970

Here's one 970 on the 2nd hand market atm for R5k (no idea how low this seller gonna go)

Otherwise it would be R5600

I specced the 750W to go with the R9 390. It can be changed to,

R849 - Super Flower SF-500P14XE(HX) Golden Green HX 500W 80 Plus Gold Certified PSU
R999 - Super Flower SF-600P14XE(HX) Golden Green HX 600W 80 Plus Gold Certified PSU

500W is more than sufficient, 600W if you want some future reserves.

See above, R600-R750 saving so you can dine on some caviar again :D

Where the hell do you come up with that crap?

AMD spun off their foundry division. The company with the highest volume of cpu sales (ARM) in the world also don't make cpus.

As a current nvidia owner I would not hesitate to purchase a R9 380 over my current gtx960 or a r9 390 over a gtx970.

Fanboys

I run a AMD CPU and it kicks Intel's anus
