Advice on pricing a Hi-Fi

I want to sell my HiFi as part of decluttering and now using a sound bar. Although I bought it in 2006 for R15k it is still a decent system. Receiver is a Yamaha unit (100w RMS) and 5+1 speakers (Jamo) to match.

How do I decide what to price it at? I can’t get a comparable replacement price as new units with same output include new features that distort the comparison. Prices have also risen with ZAR weakness but new quality speakers also came on the market.

Any ideas ? Else I just have a seriously overspecced radio in the bedroom!
 
Second hand audio equipment doesn't fetch anywhere near as much as what you paid for it.
@Dolby would probably be able to tell you
 
All depends on the exact model, but I suspect it’s likely lower end ones so you probably won’t find many buyers for the AVR but speakers don’t really get outdated, so try sell them separately.

Get the model numbers and I can take a look for you.

Thanks. Yamaha RX-V659 receiver. Speakers are Jamo S-403 and S-408. The sub is a Jamo SW7000-A.

Else it is the SPCA lucky day :-)

Yup.

Stereo hifi you’re looking easily at half the new price within just a few years - often even less than half.

When it comes to surround amps and the continual changing tech, new formats or ports - it’s even worse. Like someone said above, speakers tend to depreciate less though.

Worse still is the timing and the tough times we find ourselves in. People just aren’t buying hifi now.

Check www.avforums.co.za and I’m sure someone has sold the equivalent for you to get a price
 
I’m on my phone and not searching extensively, but I see one at R1.8K and another at R2.4k for the amp alone about 2 years back.

I get the feeling the first unit isn’t in great condition as it says ‘not mint’ - maybe the second gives an indication though

I like the fact it’s got pre outs though. I’d have bought it from you about a year back
