You've obviously never tried to get anything resolved with mtn![]()
whats this?
Sadly I have, and with Cell C too. They cant bill you for something the cant prove you used.
Im not going to explain exactly how it works but I have seen it used quite a few times. It involves pushing data through certain proxies and messing around with APN settings but it allows you to do serious volumes of data. I know it gets blocked from time to time but the guys find another point through every time.
... demand for logs.
To all of the people that call this an "MTN scam" YOU ARE STUPID, yes you are.
Large companies like that dont "scam" people. I have worked in the cellular industry in the past and I understand how these systems work.
There are a few possibilities as to what happened.
Billing errors which dont take much to resolve.
Screwing with the APN on the blackberry and getting caught.
connecting it to a pc or any other form of tethering.
Using the MTN free data hack.
How sure is your friend that it was not on 3G?
Its either a simple billing error or your friend did something stupid and will have to learn the hard way.
If at R2/mb - then R25,000 = 12GB from a phone - WOW.
As I said, we will wait for more information ......... right now this is all just speculation...
Do you work for MTN?
From who, MTN does not have customer service !
