I need a slide scanner which can eventually handle my collection of a couple of thousand mounted 35mm slides. The most popular current model seems to be the Canon LiDE 700F at about R1299, but it has had very mixed reviews and can only scan slides one at a time. And I still haven't been able to confirm whether it will actually accept mounted 35mm slides rather than just film strips.

Anybody got any other tried and tested suggestions for currently available models? Or even better, someone in the Jo'burg-ish area looking to find a new home for a good used one?

That scanner does work well, only a few slides will slot into the actual slide template that sits on the scanner bed, but you don't HAVE to use the template, you could fill the entire bed with slides then just scan the lot and separate them using a graphics prog if you're handy that way.

Thanks HC! Am I correct in thinking though that you can still only scan one slide at a time like this, using the separate backlight thingy supplied with the kit?
