It might against the CPA, if he approached a Durban based company, the cost of delivery of stock from other provinces sits with the locally based company

Pretty close to you, but R268k However they did throw out and re-do 2 full-size DB boards as well.
 
Doesn’t seem too bad, doesn’t seem amazing either.

I agree with going with as many panels as you possibly can especially since it sounds like you can’t do North facing.

Could they not just increase their margins then as well? Whether it is a line item on the invoice or not, you’ll be paying for it.

Might be why you’ll see quotations with the equipment being inflated compared to online costs, to cover the handling costs of the equipment.

its meh i have said it before and will say it again if you going solarr DO NOT GO solar geyser I could have put 30k more towards my entire system with whole house benefiting.

Im also considering going gas geyser or using the cost to increase my solar project.
 
I cannot say this enough. Do your due diligence before handing over your hard earned money. Preferably, use someone who has multiple references that you personally know and trust.

Have heard too many horror stories lately.

Hi. We live in Durban so it’s still pretty warm in winter. You however need to put the geyser on power for about four hours a day in order to ensure that the water is hot.
 
Prices too expensive during loadshedding
I will wait until there is no loadshedding and then get solar
Like buying a swimming pool in winter

Until then candles are still affordable

Hi Everyone. Thanks for all the advice. Open solar are doing a virtual site inspection tomorrow morning. Will post the quote online. Hope it’s a good one.

We have had the solar geyser for twelve years. It has had to be replaced twice as the geyser burst but insurance covered the cost. It has worked very well. We run almost entirely of solar except in winter when the power is on for four hours a day. However we live in Durban and we can go to the beach in winter here.
 
Hi All

This is the latest quote obtained today. It has bigger batteries (6.14 kWh) as opposed to my previous quotes of 5kWh batteries. It comes to R275 000 which seems to be the going rate these days.

Here is a very similar system, not sure what they charge for delivery. But if you get an installer for R30k per your quote, it would seem you can save quite a bit?

Although I’m not sure if like for like, but maybe worth exploring?
