Advice on switching career path

Having changed careers in my early 30's I would offer the following advice:

• Choose something you enjoy and are good at. We spend too much time at work to be doing what we hate badly
• It is possible to make good money in pretty much any worthwhile field or endeavour (granted in some it may be easier than others) so for me it's a case of picking your field and working to achieve your financial objectives within that context rather than choosing a career path primarily for its earning potential.
• Look for a role in your new field where your existing experience and knowledge has value but you have room to grow. In this situation you may not need to accept a lower income to make your move.
