Advice on Tablet to buy?

Hi, I have an old ipad 1 - which can no longer be upgraded on ios or run 90% of my apps.
Before the apple fanatics get upset, I've moved over to android on my mobile phone and am looking to buy an android tablet.
My uses? Well, the odd email, but mostly games (COC, Angry birds etc), music, series when travelling and news apps. The odd magazine downloads.
Basically looking for something that will do the job without the expense of a new ipad (which I saw at incredible to be R11999 - gobsmacked).
Preferably under R5k.
Anyone know of anything worthwhile I can look at?
 
What size your looking for?

Avoid: Samsung Tab 3 7inch - Way to slow.
Apparently the Samsung Tab 4 7inch isnt much better.
 
Preferably 10 inch.
Bit worried that 7 might feel too small. have a galaxy s5 and struggle with the browset at times.
 
I bought myself and my parents the Lenovo Idea Tab S6000 10". It cost around R3.5k at the time. Runs Android and has been working like a charm. 16GB, 3G, GPS, the works.

Best reasonably priced Tablet is the Xperia Tablet Z.

The Z2 is good, but if it were my money I'd get the original Z.

Not much better in that size range, asus/lenovo/<insert random budget name>... they all either similar or lower specced than the tab 4 7"

If your not fussy about 2nd hand, you can pick up a note 10.1" 2014 model for around 5.5k on carbonite.co.za , cant get much better than that for the price
 
Got a note pro 12.2 from bidorbuy in may. Best decision of my life
