I'm currently in matric now, having to decide what to go study next year. My options boiled down to computer science and computer engineering. I just don't know which one to choose.

I really enjoy programming, so I thought of doing computer science, but at the same time hardware also seems quite interesting. So I'm not sure which of the two courses to take, because even though I'm interested in hardware, I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy doing CE.

I'm really stuck on this and I'm not sure which to do

Would suggest go with computer engineering, you would have a wider field of careers and you can always do computer science later.
But I might be a bit bias on that field

Which university? The odds are that you can do the entire CS syllabus as part of CE. The real difference will likely be in the non-CS subjects (engineering vs stats/abstract-math/random-course/etc.). If you can do all of CS as part of CE, I would do CE unless you really like some other major.
