Hi Guys,

So I'm in the process of moving houses (within Cape Town). The new house doesnt have Interenet set up so I'd just have to activate the DSL line, which isn't my issue. What I'm trying to determine is which ISPs are a go and which ones aren't?

I'm looking at uncapped ADSL packages as I'd be using the line to download torrents and browsing mainly, with a little bit of gaming (don't really need a gaming package) - but would be nice for when I play on the odd weekend. Oh and I'd like to mention that I'm not a heavy user so I probably wouldn't exceed more than 35GB a Month.

In your experiences, hows Axxess, Cybersmart, MWEB, Afrihost or Web Africa?

Thanks in advance.

You're in luck.

Gold is on special:

Does the price include line rental or is it just for data? Because I can get a deal of R375 for a 2MB line inclusive of line rental.

Dude where the hell are you getting such a deal from???

Although if that deal is real I'd be wary, cheap internet normally equals k@k service.....

Only data. You asked for reliable with good speeds. For that you need GOLD. Your cheapy package is probably neither reliable, nor fast.

Its with Cybersmart. A relative is actually getting a tailored package as he wanted to switch over to another ISP so Cybersmart offered a price beat. 2MB lines with them are usually R495, his line seems to be pretty decent though!

Anyone have opposing opinions regarding Cybersmart?

Yeah I understand where you coming from. How much is Telkom line rental though? Wouldnt be keen on paying more than R500!

there's nothing wrong with cybersmart except their packages are for "lite" users only - their home uncapped is for 50gb or there abouts per month use.

my adsl line had been with them since 2007. no problem. but i've used mweb and other isp's form my data.

had been with mweb the past two years. from time to time some speed issues but in general the best experience. till they announced the new packages. everything went downhill. erratic speeds. so i've cancelled my subscription.

i'm going to try g-connect, buzybuy etc for the next few months.

and maybe i'll return to mweb. maybe not.
