Advice please: Setting up iTunes after a reformat

Every 6 moths or so I re-ghost my PC. This means that I need to re-setup my iTunes library every time. This is how I go about it:

- install iTunes
- Change library folder to my library on my external drive
- add THAT folder to iTunes (so it re-adds all the songs)
- consolidate the library

this works reasonably well but the problem is the following: When I add the main itunes library folder, the files inside the child folders don't add chronlogically. IOW when I sort by date added, the songs don't group by album.

Adding each child folder manually is just not an option. Can anybody offer me a way to just add the 1 parent folder yet have the songs added in "song-inside-that-folder" order?

When you start up iTunes hold down the shift key then select the old library and everything should be as it was.
