I have a high cap 50GB account with WA on the SAIX network and am experiencing what looks like caching issues.

All my wwebsites are hosted in Guernsey in the British channel island, I've been making changes today and I have realised that flash files are still the same. IE, I've deleted them from the site but they still appear.

So are you confirming you know their is caching on the SAIX ADSL network?

Yes there is definitely!

Hectic, I just spoke to 1 of the webafrica guys and he reckoned there isn't.
Can anyone else confirm? Sorry, this is vitally important to my business.

Maybe he confused it with something else... So yes, I confirm. There is caching on the SAIX network.

you spoke to someone from webafrica and he didn't know about caching on saix? I would think that all tech support know that saix makes use of a pool of transparent proxy servers.

just search for 'transparent proxy' here and you'll find plenty of posts :)

Hell yes and that transparent proxy is really bugging me. Most sites detect the ip from the transparent proxy and gives me errors saying we do not allow signups via proxy servers. All or atleast 90% of websites pick up the transparent proxy as your ip and you get errors cause most people would reflect the same ip. So it may look as you are creating duplicate accounts but you aren't *sigh at telkoms fu****up proxy!*

I doubt it but phone telkom and try find out.
Just be prepared to wait a really long time!

You mad? You waited for ONLY 71 minutes?? You gotta wait anything from 120-180 minutes before throwing a fit! :D

I once phoned at 6.55am and the phone was answered immediately. I once phoned at 4.30am and the phone was answered immediately!!! Telkom force their clients to become insomniacs.

Our most sincere apologies for the incorrect information from the tech support guys (WebAfrica).
However there is definitely caching on the SAIX network.

Thanks, I actually spoke to a support person and 2 managers and they all reckoned there isn't.

Any chances I can get off the cache?

Now I am pretty impressed. I called IS and got a quote on a 50GB high cap account over their fiber network and the quote came in at R1200 cheaper than WebAfrica for the same service without the caching rubbish. It includes a router and the only drawback is that I wont have control over my own connection.

Looking good so far.

We (WebAfrica) as your ISP, would have to take ownership to log a FQ with SAIX regarding the cache problem.
