Hi all,

I need advice on what i can ask for the following components:

I have an Asus a8n32 sli deluxe motherboard with 2GB DDR400 ram and 4600+ X2 Athlon 64 CPU(dual core) socket 939 that i want to sell. Also a 160GB IDE HDD. I am out of date on what the value is of pc parts so i dont know what to ask.

It is not in case or anything ...just the components.

Thx in advance for any advice of what one can maybe get.

I would guess they are worth:
M/B = R500
CPU = R700
RAM = R500
HDD = R200

How old are the components? Still under warranty? Do you have the slips etc?

Not under warranty no more...as socket 939 is phased out. got the slips though...somewhere :p

CPU was bought just before they started phasing out socket 939. Mobo is about 6-8 months older. Hdd is about 2-3years of age if i am correct now.

True, DDR400 RAM is scarce these days, and those 939 boards and CPU are still fairly popular, despite their age.

i'll be surprized if you get 1.5k for both cpu and mobo

a new 4600+ amd2 is around 700-800 bucks

so your cpu is worth about 350 400 max i say

turn it into something man because it aint worth selling, u cannot replace that cpu or mobo should it break and that makes your hardware worth nothing

But people stuck on the s939 platform and say a 3200+ cpu won't find a better/cheaper upgrade than going for an X2 4600+ and it would probably be worth R700 then, instead of having to get a new motherboard as well.

let me add that my son's pc is similar to what you have - only thing is that the HDD is bigger and I got him a 3850 graphics card.

On a 19" screen - he plays all the popular games at decent frame rates.

If you are selling cos you need the cash - sell it.

But if I were you I would keep it and up the HDD and gfx. R1500 does not even get you a good motherboard these days - let alone a CPU.

Just my 2c

These are some good points to bear in mind. R1500 does seema fair price, but with the devaluation of components the way it currently, it may well be worth more hanging onto it for a little while longer.
