Hi All,

I need some advice regarding a gaming console for my kids - boys aged 5 and 6.

I currently have a PS3 (excluding the Move) but I find the games very limited for the kids....just some car games and a Ben 10 which they dont really like,

My nephew has the Xbox 360 Kinect which they love....all the interactive sport games.

The system will only be used for a short time on weekends/school holidays.

Does the Xbox 360 Kinect have a lot of kid-friendly games and will it be advisable to get it.

Thanks.

I've got a Wii with Kinect and my 8 year old isn't keen on it. He much prefers Nintendo stuff and it's hard to disagree at that age. Looking at the age of your kids and the amount of use it will get, I'd say pick up a second hand Wii with some games for very little.

Thanks Spizz.....didnt consider it new as they not very common but will look out for a used Wii.

IMO the kinect only have kid friendly games. Not like you can strafe in front of your TV when playing a FPS!

I bought XBox360+Kinect a few years back and they played quite a lot with the kinect type games (and it's very tiring for the adults as well.) Now that they're older, they play mostly the more older games but if their friends and cousins visit they still play the dancing Kinect games, especially the girls. I'm glad i went the route of the XBox when the kids were younger as opposed to the Wii. Now that they're older they can play the more older suited games and it's not a waste as the Wii would have been.
(PS, and the best part is... now that they're older, they also have the privilege of saving up and buying their own games) :D

I had a Wii for my son (7 now), he begged and begged for the Wii U, I gave in and got it for him for last Christmas. He played the "New Mario Brothers" which is what he wanted, finished it and now doesn't touch the bloody console anymore :( Now hes begging for the XBox 360.... Bugger that, he can play stuff on the iPad or Galaxy Tab (has both)...

Best part of the Xbox is the Kinect, and yeah, most of the games are kid friendly

We also have a Nintendo wii and an xbox with a kinect, and the Wii is no longer used since i got the Kinect.

Had the kinect when it came out daughter was 4 or so shes 8 now - there's plenty of Kid friendly games - actual fact I think most Kinect games are aimed towards the kids
