Hello all :)

My friend wants to buy a laptop in the region of R13k. He'll mainly use it for DOTA [I know it doesn't tax the system] but wants the laptop to have the following:

  • 1GB RAM
  • 15.4" LCD
  • 60GB Hard-drive
  • 256MB graphics card

Currently he's looking at a DELL (not sure which model no.) which has all these features but would like a better graphics card than the X1600.

Check out the Fujitsu-Siemens laptops @ Makro, you'll get one with all the features you've mentioned for less.

Hi Dominic,

I would suggest your friend to rather buy a Toshiba or an IBM thinkpad. The best in terms of performance, speed, reliability and graphics.
Specs-
Centrino Duo Core processor
1gb Ram
now comes with 60-100gb harddrive.
DVD DualLayer. and he can get those for around 13-15K

Dell is good. (I have been using a Dell from the C series to the latest D620 now. All because it is a company laptop. But at home I have a toshiba & a Toshiba, and though older models, works like charms.

would also say, check out the fujitsu-siemens machines at makro. got an oldish 1.8 centrino, 1gig ram, 80gig hdd, dual layer dvd writer, 15.4inch widescreen, 128MB radeon 9700 mobility, still going strong

almost 2 years old, use it for everything, more or less

macbook definitely

Yup, they best way to go.

DO NOT TOUCH A FUJITU SIEMENS!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the ***est laptops ever.

I picked up an HP 6XXX for R10k today, have all that. I just need to check the graphics card.
