A while back a ventured out here to get some information on a new gaming laptop for myself. The mafia sub has kicked me out and said I need to come back and ask people who actually know something.

I've basically narrowed it down to 2 machines which I like and are in the correct price range.

First up a 15.6": http://www.evetech.co.za/n/685/msi-gt60-20d-intel-core-i7-gaming-laptop.aspx this seems to be the better of the machines I'm considering.
Then a 17": http://www.evetech.co.za/n/707/msi-gs70-2pc-stealth-intel-core-i7-gaming-laptop.aspx

Taking the above machines into account, which would you pick or what would you take as an alternative?

I would take the 17inch.

I bought the GS70 for 10k less - with the GTX765m 2gb ddr5. I am really happy with it, 17inch, slim and can game nicely with it.

MSI GT60 20D
*CPU doesn't suppport Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)
*Has the higher rated GPU
*Has two SSD's in RAID config
*Blu-ray writing

MSI GS70 2PC Stealth
*Slimmer profile (I think)
*17inch screen

I'd go with the GT60.... although I might be biased seeing as I just ordered this GT60 from the US.

Hey Arzy

This is going to be a very personal choice. Keeping in mind that 17" notebooks come with the compromises around the size that you have to make, I did play with the latest GS70 recently and I was very impressed. Between those two notebooks keep in mind the following:
- The GT60 has better overall specs and will be faster.
- However the GPU on the GT60 is older and will be noticeably hotter and drain the battery more than the GS70.
- GS70 has a better CPU as pointed out above.

I'd still go for the GT60 myself and agree with napalm's points.

Common complaint on the gt60 is that it gets loud and rather hot...
