I have my eye on an HP deskjet all in one printer which has wifi and eprint capability. Its the 3050 model

Does anyone know much about this printer?

Basically I'm hoping I can place it in a corner and print via my laptop to it as well as my ipad.

Do you think that this is a good option, I'm just needing an entry level unit

Any help would be great

Yes, that's basically what it does, having the wifi option. Its either a wifi AP or connects to your wifi adsl router and other devices connect to the printer via their normal connection to the adsl router.

Check how many pages it does on a cartridge and the cost of a cartridge.

My hp officejet 8500A cost me R2150 new and does 2200pages per R295 cartridge. The smaller printers tend to have smaller capacity cartridges so investigate before you buy.

I have one of those, it works fine.

The only issue I have is that I tried a few times to connect to my wireless router using the WPS buttons but it failed every time.

I just use the USB cable at the moment till I get some time to configure it manually(I hardly ever print anyways)

Cartridges are cheap(I buy at Game)

Your wireless router should be setup to use WPA/WPA2-TKIP for security with a password.

Then simply scan for wireless networks with the printer, select your network and enter your password. Sorted.
