Advice needed: second hand automatics

Hey guys, friend of mine is looking for a second hand run around with decent bootspace. Price range is between 150-200k and must be 2014 or newer.

Recommended the following, is there anything else out there we should be looking at? Also, out of the list, does anyone live with any of these cars day to day and can offer a view of what they are like?

2015 Toyota Corolla Quest 1.6
2015 Honda Ballade 150
2015 Honda Jazz
2014 Hyundai Accent
2015 Hyundai i20
2015 Kia Rio (Sedan or Hatch)
2015 VW Polo Sedan
2015 Ford Fiesta Eco-Boost

Size wise the best of the lot is the <2015 Toyota Corolla Quest 1.6> then the <2015 Honda Ballade 150>

If the hatchback size is sufficient then the <2015 Ford Fiesta Eco-Boost> is the best of the lot. The PowerShift version gets 74kw not 92kw just as an FYI. Same torque at 170nm

Jazz and Fiesta have decent load abilities with drop down seats, both should be reliable, think the fiesta will be a bit quicker though, both of them should have decent resale value and be decent on fuel.

See if you can't find a 2014 Civic Auto, I dunno if the Elegance range came out with an auto box though.

Toyota or Honda, when buying second hand one can never go wrong with going Japanese

Had the Corolla automatic as a rental. You'll be comfortable, while going very, very slow.

Your friend can pick up a 2016 Honda Ballade Trend CVT with less than 10,000km on the clock for under R200k easily. Comes with a 500L boot, 5years/200000km warranty and 4years/60000km Service Plan. If he is willing to get an ex-rental Ballade, he can get a 2015 Ballade Elegance CVT with around 25-30,000km for the same money.

The only issue with ex-rentals, other than the high mileage for the year model, is the tyres and brakes will have to be replaced a lot sooner than usual and are not covered by the Service Plan. The 5yr warranty will take care of any mechanical issues that creep up due to possible abuse as a rental.

Thanks for the comments, also leaning towards Toyota and Honda. The ballade does seem like really good value for money.

Don't think speed is an issue or concern.

Anyone living with the above cars?

I am actively trying to get rid of my diesel Civic in favour of a Ballade Elegance. Just waiting for the right deal...

Cool, which spec of the ballade are you aiming for? The car looks quite good.
