Aerial Fibre - Drop from pole

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with how they drop fibre from a pole to your house (the pole is right next to my boundary wall)?

Do they drop it down to your boundary wall and then lay it along the ground. Or do they drop it from the pole to the roof and then down to ground? (Or does it depend?)

I want to start mapping out a path as someone previously suggested....

Yeah. I suppose it's probably better to discuss it with the installers when they arrive. I don't like the idea of a line going straight to my roof - It looks like it will be the easier option, but I don't think it will look quite as "neat".
 
I have had a few installers over to install wireless fiber, although they never installed because they are idiots who don't understand trees block signal, they always asked me where I would prefer everything, but once they don't have signal they move it around. So I am assuming you would be able to at least tell them you want it a certain way and see if they can accommodate you, but I'm not sure if every provider would be up for it
 
In my area, the Openserve fibre runs from pole to roof, into the ceilings, then down to the ONT. Perhaps consider laying your own ground conduit from pole to house where you want the line to terminate? Not sure if they'll feed it through though, so it could be a waste of resources on your part.
 
Most I have come across they normally take from the pole directly to the top of your house and then route the wire to your location, normally int to the roof.

With my installation, the pole is 2 houses away and would have run over my neighbours yard. Neighbour said he didn't want that and made me run pvc pipe from the pole through the edge of neighbours yard and into mine. Was a pretty easy exercise. Just put a draw wire in so they can pull the fibre through.
 
If it's fibre from the poll then they will just hang it across to the the closest roof corner and then run the cable inside the roof to the room you want it. Then they splice it at the poll and inside the house. They plug the ONT and you are done.

Usually in those cases if there is no dp on the poll they will run it back along the polls and then to your house roof. There is usually a poll between every 4 houses though.

Ok cool. The pole is about 1 m from my boundary wall and luckily the room I want the ONT installed, is in the closest corner to the pole...

My house is on a slight incline and the pole is "downhill", so in some areas the cable might only be a couple of meters from the ground - Don't want it looking like a low hanging washing line. It probably doesn't matter that much at the end of the day! I just want my sweet, sweet fibre. So gatvol of "LTE".

It looks exactly like Telkom's copper lines look like when dropped from a pole.

There's no such thing as wireless fibre. Those 2 words mean the exact opposite of each other. Clearly thought up by a marketing team who don't have a clue.

They usually run it through a lekker fat durable pipe. If you are in Sandton, and surroundings, you can see it close to everywhere outside of the residential areas.
