Yes Glordit it's pointless paying R300 a month for 64k. I mean the uncapped part is kinda useless as it's impossible to download anything other than maybe drivers and the odd game trailer. And to do that you need a download manager. P2P are non existent.
I wonder when Aerosat will realise that paying R300 for a 64k connection is ridiculous. Why not just upgrade everyone on 64k to at least 192k for free.
I mean with current ADSL prices dropping I cannot see Aerosat staying in business for too long.
When I buy my own place next year I'll be dropping Aerosat and getting ADSL as soon as Telkom installs a land line.

I have asked this question many a time...

64k Hell If I get a Telkom 384 with a Axxess Uncapped local account and get a 1GB pre-paid for int usage I should cost a little more but heck! atleast I can actually do something with it!!!
I wanted to use Aerocrap because they are uncapped! it worked well for the first few months then it went downhill! 64k Pah!
Also they use IS lines in thier Offices and gie all thier employes FREE 192k and "they" know what ports to use for p2p oh they do!
Like you say with Telkom droping prices Aerosat is in for a world of hurt... as I said before.... Neotel here I come

Good choice
Seems to be an awfully big presumption that Neotel will offer a better service when they cant even deliver a consumer product after being licensed for how long? I want Neotel to succeed more than anything but until they stand up and deliver something then they're a non-entity.Like you say with Telkom droping prices Aerosat is in for a world of hurt... as I said before.... Very true! but I think they are holding back to give it all, No use in just giving one service on CPT/JHB and another some place els.
I know of a person that is involved in Neotel all he says to me is its commig...

No FTP [no South African FTP]
No Downloads [speeds of 1-2kbs]
DNS errors on almost all webpages
Tried to email no responce, phoned the retard on the phone says.... aaah? noting wrong! here are you sure you are not downloading....
Sigh now with Neotel not in direct competition with Telkom I am realy stuffed!

Hmm Its sad news this Neotel. There is a lot of trench digging going on in PE. I was hoping it was the "New" network getting ready for the last mile. Anyone have more info?

Aerosat SUX
firstly let me begin by saying the service and help aerosat provides is even worse than telkom, me and my boss are both on aerosat, why you ask, because we live in a rural area and there just simply isnt anything better, not even adsl. they advertize capless internet (which is a lie) because the have what they call chokers which limits your internet usage and cuts it when usage gets too extreme and actualy dares to say that you, as the payee of a capless internet service, are abusing the freedom, FOR GOODNESS SAKE C.A.P.L.E.S.S means no limits!!!! they open and close ports without notifying you as the customer, which as a result has caused trouble in my bosses work ass we need certain ports open at all time
Secondly, when I first heard of Aerosat i thought yay finnaly i get to play online games, even though the dl speeds are better ive found that EVEN A| 56K CONNECTION serves better in online gameing than aerosat.
Thirdly they are either super incompetent or Extremely deceitfull and Sly, i would like to believe the second, as my boss quit his aerosat line, papers done all authenticated yet they still charged him for 4 months every month he phones they say yeah well correct it, which brings me back to the bad service, following month in well what do you know they took did exactly the same.
Thankfully there is hope, though not for aerosat. as we see seacom is headed to south africa next year and though it'll take some months to get it fully going more and more internet suppliers are popping up, though we can only expect it rount about 2010 i guess, still when that glorious day comes aerosat will be out of business as even we farmboys will have access to better internet
So if you are considering aerosat which is (capless) and you have other options (Iburst adls dsl etc.) I reccomend to not use aerosat to save you anger and frustration plus a hint of stress my rating is if 56k was more affordable during day, BRING IT ANYDAY

Ive recently seen that microsoft and google are fighting in court to create a type of internet broadband that works like old television antennas hope they make it yet seacom is south africas hope so as for aerosat, they know they got us rural people by the balls, but i say go aerosat milk us for all we are worth coz 2010 comes alota people are gonna be jobless due to your tricks to save bandwidth
one more years struggle and we are free from a ping of 900 agianst all the others 7, 10 max 90 in games like team fortress2 dam I just cant wait and know you guys dependant on aerosat cant wait neither haha bye bye aerosat
