ok i just tried this irc form of support and its rather good. Initially sceptical but I ended up learning a great deal...

Anyone else try it? Its like a forum on steroids! Cant tell you how to get there, but I'm sure Mr Aerovps can remind us? :)

Thanks for the feedback, great to have you part of this new initiative. There is a very low-fi guide here: http://community.aerovps.com
It's simple and tells you what you need and to the point. Or if you have mIRC, my signature has the IRC link.

Guys and gals,

If you are like me who is a total newbie to seedboxes and vps’, linux and perl, torrentflux and transmission, FDM and tar files, moblock and peerblock, private and public trackers, CentOS 5 kernels and daemon, FTP and HTTP downloads, irc and support tickets, shaping and unshaping, IP’s and hosting, and all the rest of this stuff then I would strongly invite you to make a trip to this live chat forum and get the proper information.

Most of information on the internet regarding the above is misleading advertising and not pertinent to us users here in RSA. I admit that irc thing is initially intimidating but its easy and the best thing next to voice chat for information-on-demand. And the people in there are masters of the field so you’d get correct information without them being condescending and arrogant to one who doesn’t know much in this field (after all, we are professionals in different fields!). And it’s free!

Anyway I’m not affiliated to them- just friendly information to new-to-vps-and-seedbox-people who want to benefit from uncapped high speed internet.

At the end of the day: an advantage not used is a disadvantage…

Holy crap, people have not heard of IRC? It's been around for yonks and a very effective communications medium.

yeah i was surprized too.
Internet Relay Chat goes back to the telnet days, like pre 1987. ppl stopped using it because it's so open to the wrong kind

Sure, irc for you pro's at IT is stale news, but again I stress for us newbies this might not be so obvious. An ILS has been around since 1929, but not everyone can operate to CAT 3 conditions...!

So instead of slandering, rather add postively to the thread and respect the limited knowledge of others when you do indeed know more in this particular subject... while I'll and others will gladly share our knowledge from our respective professional fields (notice the plural) in other threads.

i am sorry if i came across as slanderous, i felt i should warn folks of the dangers involved in using IRC in general.
Aero, surely a http style shoutbox would be better suited to providing live support to your clients? ...combine /dns with the ease of transferring a file via DCC, and you have an instant phishing pond

IRC isn't a live support channel (that's why we have live support on our website)- it's just where users can discuss the product and assist each other. It's also very easy to get the casual computer user on it, unlike using ie. a Jabber server. ;)

But you did bring up a very good point, and I'd like to elaborate on the dangers of IRC, and provide this link: http://www.mirc.net/newbie/dangers.php

Oh, and sensitive info is never shared via IRC of course, there's no danger of that.

Well if your intentions were noble then good on you: this newbie (and many others) is grateful for your input.

Please all read carefully: I said its a "live chat forum" like the ones in yahoo games and other social networks- NOT a support/product helpline that seems to be suggested by further posts!

*blush* i really should have the eyes tested ;) all those years of staring at glowing lime phosphorus as a child must have done some damage, probably not only my vision.
