Affirmative Action here to stay

Load of crap.

And speaking as a minority in this country (coloured), this will have no significant impact on unemployment. I've certainly not benefited from it :(

The application of affirmative action is diabolical!

But you have to admit it, Zuma has the panache and the mojo of a maverick.
He'll win no doubt and fly to Davos, NY, Beijing, London... and be one heck of a cool pres.

Zuma first week to black businessmen - AA here to stay.

Zuma next week to white businessmen - We are going to can AA.

That's what I meant. He is a maverick, a playa. He is suave and his mojo
has the magic to bend everyone to his rhetoric.

I agree with you. It is a good idea in theory but completely impossible to pull off in the real world simply because it cannot be done fairly or equitably. The technology to do this (keeping track of incomes, previous injustices etc) doesn't exist.

I would rather promote a system whereby everybody who needs a helping hand can get one no matter your race.

Only because people perceive the ANC to be undefeatable. If you take that "magic" away then he becomes as brittle as dry clay...

JZ is the classic flip-flopper politician - he tells every group of people exactly what they want to hear. Honestly, I don't think anybody knows which way he is going to go. That, by every possible stretch of the imagination, is a bad thing.

If AA stays beyond a certain point then it becomes apartheid in reverse. How is he going to spin that?

The problem with not knowing which way JZ is going to go, is that it creates a false sense of security for millions of people who have options now. A drastic about-turn on any restitution policies, etc, currently in place will catch many unawares, and that is where the problem compounds itself a million-fold.

You can't steal things that have already been sold. The Zimbabweans had no idea that the international community would allow the atrocities that Mugabe's government has perpetrated. The general idea is to catch everyone unawares and help yourself to land, and property, with no compensation at all.

This is an African trend. Why pay for things you can steal?

True.

At what measurable point do you feel that AA should be scrapped?

The only way AA and BEE could work is if they are based on income and not skin colour. For all these share deals and things, make it so that anyone with a monthly salary of under R2000 qualifies. That way you are helping the poor and not the rich guys who dont need it, but they qualify as they are black

AA - the seeds for failure..

Why? Because it destroys competition, work ethic, the drive for perfection.
Makes people complacent, and does not reward performance.
Good luck with that
