Affirmative action kills babies

I don't disagree with the article. An employer is supposed to find the best person for the job, not the best colour.
Would you prefer to have the best colour person perform your brain sugery or the best person?

Obviously the best person, but AA ignores that completely.

I am currently being forced to retire because I happen to be the wrong shade, and if they keep me on our BEE ratio will go to hell in a handbag.

Working in SA today has EVERYTHING to do with what colour you are and sweet bugger all to do with skill.

Another coke and large popcorn please.
I do not necessarily agree with the IRR or similar type issues but

CAPE TOWN – The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) says it’s misleading and racist to blame affirmative action for service delivery failures, hitting out at the Institute of Race Relations (IRR) for its claim that the policy kills babies.

The IRR today released a statement claiming affirmative action policies are being used as a veil to conceal corruption and incompetence in the civil service.

It claimed when the wrong people are appointed to a position due to the policy, there are devastating consequences for the poor and vulnerable.

IRR CEO Frans Cronje said the Bloemhof water contamination fiasco is an example of where affirmative action has failed the poor.

“The Bloemhof council did not have the ability or capacity to supply clean water to its residents. You’ve got to ask what is it that allowed it to happen – that such incompetent people are appointed to those posts?”

His controversial statement has drawn criticism from Cosatu.

The federation’s spokesperson Patrick Craven says this view is unfair.

“To try blame affirmative action for some of the problems we have in this country is to completely mislead people and, frankly, has a very racist tone to it.”

Craven says the government should enforce the policy effectively.
A blanket attack on AA is unfair, I agree entirely with Mr Craven.
It would be great though if Mr Craven could expand a bit more, and perhaps educate people, rather than a short denial. What happened in this instance, expand, and prove the IRR to be completely off sides.
Substance from both opposing views is more meaningful.

It would be more constructive.

I was saving this thread to savour later and it doesn't disappoint. Any organisation with race in it's name can suck my dick.

The comment is entirely fair because the ANC has always used AA as a camouflage to disguise the appointment of loyal comrades to plum positions in order to reward them and/or ensure their continued loyalty without regard for any resultant harm. The entire Eastern Cape is a disaster and I would guess that three dead babies in Bloemhof pale into insignificance next to it.
