Well my tyres are completely worn but im also out of pocket.

I have a cooper with 195/55 R16 run flats. Its obvious I wont be spending 2k a tyre for those run flats again so I was wandering, does anyone suggest a specific tyre and what price do they go for.

I read here that 195/55 16 are rare so the tyres are expensive. Any truth in this?

I know a guy who can get me Yokohama's for about 1k per tyre but im thinking even that is expensive right now

Go and speak to one of the more knowledgeable guys at Tiger Wheels. They can give you pretty sound advice. From what I have heard, you can only GAIN by getting rid of the run flats!

Yip 16" in SA is expensive compared to other sizes 17" down.
I paid R1100 each for Contis.

You have to go to all your wheel shops in your area to find the best price, everyone will give you different prices.

What car do you drive? If moneys tight or you couldnt bothered with looks much.
Get one of those combo deals for Tiger Wheels, R5000 for 17" wheels and tyre combos... and then 17" tyres are from R600 up...

I have a cooper...

I phone Tyger wheel & Tyre. They have 205/55 R16 Continental runflats for R1195. Its the ones used on Merc so they are popular, hence the low price.

I guess I have to go for those then...
