I'm looking to upgrade my Asus N61Ja laptop and have about R12K to spend.

Are there any affordable full HD laptops available in SA?

Cheers & thanks

Best I have found so far is this : MSI GP60 2OD Core i5 Notebook @ takealot.

I would prefer 17" and i7. This has a hybrid 24GBSSD/1TB HD. The gaming specs (Graphics Chipset) don't interest me. I need to run at least one VM on it therefore prefer a quad core. I am also thinking of second hand on BoB. So this FHD is less than ideal for me.

Any thoughts on this deal? Anyone bought from BoB recently, have you inherited any problems with the machines?

Seems reasonable, decent specs for the price. I'm surprised notebooks are lagging so far behind when it comes to pixel-density. Phone displays as small as 4.7" are now fHD whereas it's still super uncommon in laptops, unless you're willing to drop some serious coin.

I've been following that thread as well. Slippery slope of telling myself that is only R2k more than my budget and tempting myself of spending more than I can afford. OP here is at R12, I am sitting at half that and already half convinced myself on the R11k option.

So it has to be second hand and I have had to restrain myself on BidorBuy from putting that extra R200 bid in another slippery slope.
