Is there an affordable High UPLOAD internet service option available in SA (i.e. +- R1000pm)

We are looking for a Minimum 2Mbit Upload service for a non-profit streaming cam.

We have been doing this for a year on an uncapped 10Mbit Telkom Afrihost ADSL line.
It works, but ADSL only provides 0.5Mbit Upload and the streaming is not as ideal as what it could be.

Vdsl has more than 3Mbit upload if in yoiur area. Otherwise try find a wisp (wireless provider)

VDSL .... we wish...

There are very few areas that have that....

Tried WISP..... extremely disappointing..... probably why gamers still prefer ADSL.

well on adsl 10mb you should be getting 1mb upload

what area is the cam located ?

The effective performance for 1mb upload is not the same.

We have both home and business ADSL lines and the upload is never more than 0.8mb max.
Realistically it is between 05 to 0.6.

The streaming setup cannot be setup to work on the highest expected as then it would not work most of the time.

We are in an established area in Pretoria East (Murrayfield).

The WISP mast connection is not even 400metres away, but we did not even get so far as to determine if latency was an issue or not.
After 2 weeks of unsuccessfully trying to get the exact same streaming service working the service was cancelled.

We were simply told that we were over utilising the connection. (2mb upload max was the only affordable WISP option)
Why this is over utilised on the exact same setup that does work on an ADSL line is a mystery that nobody could explain....

Try a different WISP, or else fibre or LTE will be your only options

If the tower was only 400m then someone did something wrong I suspect, or the WISP thought they were going to get a client, but as soon as they realized that the streaming was using more than they bargained for they probably setup a limit on the upload bandwidth.

I'd suggest a different tack - how about moving to an H.264 based camera, streaming sizes are reduced.

Already using H.264.
Only way to get any sort of decent quality with the crap options available.

Have you tried Cell C? I have a MiFi unit from Afrihost (dumped the MTN sim card) and use Cell C an my ISP - average 2MBS uploads - the best of the bunch by far!
