Hi there,

Unfortunately - This wont be cheap. I recently broke a tooth. Had to get a root canal and a filling. I came to just under R5000.

I wish i could be of more help.

Braces are not cheap, but they do let you pay them off over time. So you will have the initial consultation fee (R3500, they need to take xrays and moulds etc), a deposit (I paid R15k) and then monthly payments (I paid R1800 a month for 17 months). This is an orthodontist in Sandton, others may be slightly cheaper.
Depending on what type of braces are used, and the treatment plan, will determine the costs associated with it.

This guy has his prices online, so you can look at the worst case scenario, he seems to be cheaper than the ortho I went to. He is also based in the area you are looking for.

Also bear in mind, there may additional costs for tooth extractions/surgery beforehand. I had to have my widsom teeth and two pre molars removed. That was a fun exercise.

Thanks for the advice. My cousin went to Hugo and they did a great job.I made an appointment and hopefully it wont cost me more than R30000.

I am currently using hugo orthodontics, pricing is good, decent service and progress so far.

My braces are coming off in a month, I have had them on for two years now. My mother's medical aid paid for it. Dr Milstein in Edenvale is currently doing mine. Really great doctor.

My little brother went to Dr Kaka he is based in Emerentia, he had his Braces done about two years ago. My mother paid for his ones, she paid it in R500 monthly installments. Usually everytime he went for a checkup.

My brothers teeth came out perfect and my teeth looks to be the same.

I must stress that this is the second time I have had braces as the first doctor I went did a terrible job. Please do your research and make sure the orthodontist you go to is a good one. The first orthodontist I went to put braces on for me for a year. I was in grade 8,after five years, this was my metric year, my teeth were going crooked.

First year University, I decided to go see a proper orthodontist, Dr Milstein. All good so far with him.

It's an expensive and painful process especially for the child wearing the braces.

Make sure you do your homework, ps the first orthodontist I went to was based in Krugersdorp, her name was Liezel as far as I can remember.

I hated having braces. Especially in highschool. Could never fully give it my all in rugby and water polo. Was always scared I would get injured with these braces.

Hi do you guys still have braces and how long have you had them and still need them for

Had them for just over 2 years. Thankfully they are out.

Into my 3rd month.Orthodontist estimated 18 months needed. Will need to go for surgery in next 6-8 months also on lower jaw

Have any of you guys used any of the following orthodontist?
http://www.str8teeth.co.za/midrand
http://devosdental.co.za/

Please let me know if you have used any of them, and what you think about them. I've already made an appointment with str8teeth in February, which is too far so I'm going to cancel the appointment. The other turn off is that the orthodontist is only available once a week in the Midrand branch.

I basically want to have braces on, with an orthodontist in the Midrand area.

Be careful of a dentist that offers orthodontict treament as an addon. You want to go to an orthodontist (they are specialists for a reason).

Orthos are very very busy, keep your appointment in feb, the likliehood you will find someone to take you sooner is unlikely. You only need to visit once a month, so if he is only there one day a week, it shouldn't be an issue.

They definitely seem proffessional.

Hi. Im based in Midrand and need braces aswel. Which one did you decide on? And was it affordable?

9 months later and i can already see a big deference. Im sure you can get cheaper but the same professional service at Hugo i doubt. They definitely know what they do and like i said they affordable.

Im just past the 2 year mark. Had the lower jaw surgery 2 months ago and Im hoping that I only have a few months left.
No complaints about the treatment or costing, Hugo Ortho definitely somewhere I would recommend. I go to the floracliff one, not sure how the other one is.

For anyone going to the surgery, I strongly recommend Dr Kluge in pretoria. Did my 2 wisdoms and the surgery at the same time.
The process wasnt nearly as bad as I thought, with the only extremely painful part being an issue on the jaw plate where it had to be removed yesterday (I would strongly recommend to anyone that they DONT do this in the chair and rather go to theatre, it is easily the most painful thing I have ever experienced)

Hi

I need a highly recommended orthodontist in Cape Town area. I am currently with Hugo and they are superb. Unfortunately they don't have a practice in the Western Cape and I am relocating there.

I have had my braces for almost 6 months now.

Please be so kind as to refer me to an affordable and professional orthodontist in Cape Town area?

Thanks in advance.
