Any clients of African Bank here?

I see they offer the best rate on fixed deposits. Reasonably safe to tie up money for 5 years with them?

As long as it's less than R100k it's insured by CODI (Corporation for Deposit Insurance) so yeah, pretty much as safe as any other bank in SA.

Yeah they nearly ruined my life those guys. Crooked employees collaborated with African foreigners to obtain fraudulent loans to the value of 170k in my name within a week. Nearly sent my life in a tailspin. But after years of fighting. I won. Even seeing their company name makes my skin crawl. But hey go ahead. It’s all in the name.

Of those I would go with SASFIN long before African bank. Also to be honest if you going 5 years you may as well buy up Dollar hedged S&P 500 ETFS from SATRIX
