During the past 8 hours or more our Afrihost ADSL connection don't work and Afrihost seems unable to do anything about it.

Line connection is fine but connection to authenticate failed. Support reset the password but still without any luck.

Afrihost also seems unable to communicate via support tickets or email because Asanda asked that I must sms HELP to xxx so that they can phone me. Surely for an ISP that work online it would not be a problem to communicate via email or support tickets, would it.

I anyway prefer to have anything in writing because I strongly suspect that there is more to this issue but that Afrihost prefer to play cat and mouse until they fixed whatever.

We by the way use a normal 10GB Afrihost ADSL account and JUST for normal working conditions.

Hello Frank,
You are correct. I've had the same issue like 3 times in the past, including on the 1st of April when they had their month roll-over.
I've set my afrihost password on my router, so nobody can get there, yet it tells me I've entered the incorrect password?
The solution so far was for two times I just switched over to my backup ISP till afrihost did whatever they did to get the authentication correct.
The one time I did chat with a support person his answer to me was that my line quality may be low and I need to get Telkom to test my line, since the password gets scrambled on the bad line. Of course I didn't do that, just switched over to my backup ISP and it worked perfectly.
At this point I usually just wait 2 days and try Afrihost again, and then carry on with my 10GB cap.
My wife and I needs to be online, so everybody gets terribly upset when the internets go missing, its a crisis.
So, until afrihost gets a stable account password solution I am keeping a small backup account with another ISP, which is perhaps a smart thing to always do.
You wont like it if your car wont start in the morning when you have to go to work right?
Cheers.

Hmm, thanks for the information.

With this in mind I am definitively going to give Afrihost everything they deserve because I PAY for a service but cannot use it.

(I too have a backup but expensive Mobile connection so I will see what my lawyer have to say about claiming the extra, forced cost because of Afrihost's inability to provide the service that I paid for, back)

I myself have hundreds of websites so it's critical to be online. Maybe a nice "Afrihost" website would help.

I've been having the same problem with Afrihost for the past few days. Strangely enough, no problems at all until uncapped was released. Coincidence? Thankfully I also have a backup account. Its sad that we have to have a backup account at all.

also cannot connect to AH..

thank heavens for my free mweb account, at least i have something to fall back on

Oops, my bad. These aren't from Afrihost's T&C's, they are from YOURS!

Good luck with your lawyers.

afrihost were having problems with their radius server. Seems those problems are back again :D

I just experienced the same. Authentication failed.

Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that Afrihost don't support CHAP authentication. So I checked my router settings and found a spot to force it to use PAP authentication. Voila! Connection restored!

Might be worth a try for others that are having the same trouble...
