Yello all.
I'm a rare MyBroadband visitor, but thought I'd share my AirMobile experience here.
On the 10th of Feb I decided to try out Afrihosts AirMobile service, my fibre is with Afrihost and because of the awesome service I've always received from them this was sort of a no brainer for me after having endless issues trying to purchase minutes / data / airtime via Telkoms useless mobile app and website.
I decided not to port just yet by getting a new number and choose the esim option, the application took a day, and before I knew it everything was up and running.
I used the service for a little more than week, data coverage wasn't too bad and decided to pull the trigger to port my number (originally a vodacom number which was ported to Telkom a few years ago) over to them.
On the 21st of February I made the application and almost immediately there was an issue, when looking up the state of the application the status displayed "Your product is in an unsupported state of "UNKNOWN"", this is where the issues began.
Since then I've not had any voice service.
I have made contact with Afrihost every single day (besides yesterday), and every single day I have to explain the issue to a consultant advising them which number has the issue, what the issue is, run through diagnosing the issue, trying to resolve the issue, being told the issue is being escalated, and that the issue is with MTN.
Twice, Friday past, and today, I've asked to speak to a senior person where I've been told they're not available and that they'll get their manager to call me back, and today a consultant saying he'll check in with me after an hour to see if he called, still no calls.
Throughout the experience not once has Afrihost made contact with me via any form of communication advising the state of the issue.
Its been quite the experience over the past 2 weeks, not being able to sign into some services requiring sms authentication, missing calls, and Afrihost seemingly not giving a fudge about the situation.
So this is just a heads up should anyone be considering moving your cellular service to Afrihost.
And if anyone has any recommendations on how to get this resolved, I'd appreciate any feedback ✌
I'm going to try and make contact with MTN tomorrow to try and figure out what exactly the hold up is.
