Hoping someone can help here:
I have 2 mobile data packages, both on APN. From 1 Jan 2017, one of my packages stopped working (unable to connect to the internet). I have been getting the daily "Afrihost APN Notice" telling me my number haven't connected to the Afrihost network for 24hrs. I've logged 2 tickets for this issue:
- #YNC-263-16161
- #RCX-307-61968

Have been dealing with Neo, Dianne B, Daniel W, Marcello V, Damien W - all telling me that they've re-provisioned the sim and to switch the device off and reboot after some minutes. The phone was switched off for 30min, SIM even removed when asked to do so, but still nothing.

I have already paid for this data that I now cannot use. I need some help that will actually work this time. Before 1 Jan, it worked perfectly and from 1 Jan it stopped.

I would be interested if this is every sorted out between AH and MTN. My Dads SIm is in the same position and I eventually gave up after they told him to buy a new phone and that still didn't fix the issue

Is the sim card that you are having trouble with a PrePaid sim card by any chance?

Yes it is. Worked perfectly before 1 Jan though.

It's possible that your prepaid SIM could have been deactivated on the MTN network due to dormancy. :( Are you able to make or receive calls on this number - or even do a balance check with a USSD code?

I thought the Afrihost APN would not work on a prepaid MTN sim card?

I was under the impression you had to have a post paid sim card with mtn to do the APN thing

We've been offering APN on prepaid SIMs for a while now. :) The trick is just to keep the MTN SIM active by doing a balance check or a small airtime topup every month or so...

Seeing as the Afrihost APN is a different network, MTN will detect no activity on this SIM if no other services are being used on it and they will deactivate it after 90 days.
