Who else has gotten that BS email from Gian this morning claiming 100mb users where part of the OpenServe double fiber benefit for lockdown.

Like WTH, our country is in a mess, people are loosing their jobs left and right and now we have this rubbish.

Sending out blatant lies, upgrade now to lock in the “free” speed upgrade you never actually had.

Code:
I hope you've been enjoying your free DOUBLE speed Fibre during lockdown?

Unfortunately your free upgrade is ending this month and your speed will be halving and will return to the original speed you signed up with us.

BUT...

For just R380 extra per month you CAN lock in DOUBLE your speed permanently.

And if you upgrade now you will get the Double Fibre speed for free for August as well.

Simply click this link and upgrade now:

https://clientzone.afrihost.com/REDACTED

As you may know over the last few months we've been working with Openserve (thank you Openserve!) to DOUBLE your Pure Fibre speed for free.

So please click on the link if you want to keep enjoying the extra speed you've been getting for all the work, streaming and surfing you do.

Please note:

If you do this BEFORE end Friday (the 17th July), you'll get the 200Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre for the same price as the 100Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre for August.

So what exactly is happening?

Over the last few months we've worked with Openserve and DOUBLED your Pure Fibre speed at no additional cost to you.

Unfortunately this is coming to an end in July and your fibre speed will be halving and returning to the normal 100Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre you originally signed up for with us.

BUT:

If you don't want to go back to you original package and half your speed then you can upgrade your line and get the Double speed for FREE for August as well.

Simply click this link and upgrade now:

https://clientzone.afrihost.com/REDACTED

Remember if you do this before Friday we'll give you your 200Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre for the same price as the 100Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre for August as well.

What does this mean for you?

When you do this you will upgrade your speed to 200Mbps permanently.

We will credit note your account R380 in August and you will effectively only pay R1117.00 for your 200Mbps Openserve Pure Fibre in August too.

You will keep getting the Double speed you've been enjoying these past few lockdown months.

You won't lose any of the speed you've been enjoying.

What if you don't do anything before Friday?

If you choose to do nothing now then your speed will halve and go back to the original speed that you signed up with us for.

Either way I hope you enjoyed your Double speed you got for free during this lockdown period.

And as always I am very, very, very grateful for your business.

Thank you for trusting us with your internet!

Stay safe

I don't see the issue? They were never obligated to double your speed in the first place. Remember, they're also a business that's trying to survive.

Was your speed that you are paying for, doubled or not?

If it was and you want to keep it, pay up.

If you don't want it double anymore, STFU.

Simple, really.

The OP's point was this:
Openserve & Afrihost 100 and 200 Mbps lines were NEVER upgraded by Openserve during this ANCdragdown period.

AND yet now Gian claims we can keep the upgraded speed (For R380 pm extra pm).

Gian(and or his little Minions) should have checked his FORM letter to ensure this mail did NOT reach the 100 and 200 Mbps clients, because it left a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths.

Given they specifically state R380 it feels intentional as that is only the price difference from 100 to 200, the others all have under R200 price difference.

Good morning everyone.

The email was sent to all our clients. I apologise that 100Mbps and 200Mbps were included in this email it was difficult to separate the clients based on speed. No ill intent at all just a mistake so we apologise for that!

OP should have asked to be put on their green network that is not part of MTN.....OEF

I don't even know whether my bandwidth was ever doubled. This is with nothing except my laptop currently connected to the internet with my 100/10 line. Looks like upload was doubled, but not download.

I guess it can work both ways...

I moaned at WA for not giving me double speeds. Then I upgraded to 200Mb.

Still no proper speed so called and moaned again. Realized their router was under powered so got a new one.

I think they are also now confused between upgrades and doubling of speeds during COVID, is this is the end result:

Got the same email.
Pricing is the same if you do it yourself, except you'll have August still at the old price.

So you could not separate them based on speed yet somehow could calculate the correct price difference for that speed.

So you can work out on the email just how much exactly, and correctly I would pay to “keep” the 200mb I never had, but you could not exclude me?

Do you think I fell off the Xmas tree? Even if I was not a developer who know for a fact that you are blowing smoke up my arse, logic would dictate that your statement has no factual basis.

I opted in.
Its a one click thingie.

I look at things a bit differently, for R1000 odd a month I get streaming TV, email, browsing, gaming etc.
You can't even take your family out for a decent dinner for that price.
Its cheap, even if its R50 or R100 more than the next ISP.
Only been with Afrihost since May, haven't had any issues that I am aware of as yet.

Yeah also got the email this morning.

Was a bit confused as I could not remember the speed on my 100Mbps ever being doubled. Ran a speed test and seen that it was still at 100Mbps. checked the normal price to upgrade to 200Mbps and it was going to be the same price they were claiming as the "special".

Decided against it for now as may be moving ISP's soon anyway

Have you received the invoice for August? I also opted in and this morning received the August invoice for the full amount of R 1 117,00. No sign of the R200 credit.

Hi,

Drop me a PM with your clientzone email to confirm for you.

Clients that have opt in the promo had a credit passed for the difference on their Afrihost account. The invoice will show the full amount but the credit on the account will offset this.

Yes, same, I'll wait for the credit, if its not forthcoming then will contact Afrihost.
