"bundle" includes dsl line rental
a quick price listing as per the website:

R797 10Mbps uncapped
R897 10Mbps bundle

R399 100GB account
R697 100GB bundlle @10Mbps

R599 150GB account
**** no bundle available for 150GB

R1199 300GB account
R1471 300GB bundle @10Mbps

R199 50GB account

R399 standalone 10Mbps dsl line rental

R29 1GB top-up

on the uncapped bundle the cost of the line works out to R100; on the capped bundles, the line price works out to R300. quite a big price jump, but then the capped is unshaped. and since telkom charges R450, it's a large saving.

this all means that for someone who occasionally uses 100 to 150GB/month (but generally uses 80 to 100GB), uncapped is the only way to go (R900) because a capped "bundle" (account + line rental) is R1000.

my question: is one allowed to get an additional 50GB capped account for R199 on top of the 100GB bundle? i would much rather have an unshaped 10Mbps 150GB than a shaped uncapped 10Mbps account. does the data roll over to the next month?

what i want to do is get the 100GB bundle and when my cap us hit, switch over to the 50GB account. that way i save R200 a month on the <100GB months, and break even on the heavier months. and it's unshaped. i am not a heavy downloader, and i do not want to wait for my downloads...

thoughts?

In short, yes you're 'allowed' to. It's just a matter of signing up for the extra account/bundle in your Clientzone and cancelling before the cut-off date so you don't get automatically re-billed for it again the next month.

In terms of viability, it's way too early on the weekend to check your math, but I'll assume you got it all right :)

Why not just get the business uncapped 8Meg then? Should be similar price.

Yes, you can add on top of the bundle whatever you want.

You should however, graph out where a business uncapped account becomes cheaper than a capped account.

The cheapest option with cap and 10Mb is the 50GB option, which costs R450pm.
Add 50GB on top of that and you've got 100GB inclusive of line rental for R650pm.

Check my spreadsheet screenshot for a quick calculation of capped vs uncapped prices.

Has anyone confirmed (with actual testing) that it is indeed possible to sign up for an *additional* data package (50GB in the OP's example) on top of an Afrihost bundled line+package (10Mbit/s + 100GB) in the OP's example?

I currently have an unbundled 10Mbit/s line and 100GB data package which I mostly stay under. It would be nice to be able to bundle tha line and package (for the savings) and also to be able to bolt-on an extra 50GB data-package for the heavier months, and then detach it again on time. :)
