Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Af is borked for the weekend I don't see this getting resolved before next week

How the **** is it possible for these morons to win ISP of the year?

The Bulk of the problems are confined to the Western Cape so the vote from the rest of the country negates the WC votes.
I think we need to petition MyBB to add a section in the next voting form for Provence and then have an overall winner and then provincial winners.

People use the results to help chose an ISP and as it stands just because an ISP is good in JHB is no indication that it is good in your home province. I think the consumers would welcome a more focused assessment of the ISP market when making that choice.

I have never not once heard of a formitee who voted for AF in that ISP of the year thing.

I think next one should be a public poll.

Look I like AF more than anyone, but not going to lie I believe that ISP of the year thing is rigged/fake

Hi guys

I'm sincerely sorry about the lack of feedback here, I understand that the South IPC has been an issue since yesterday.
We are working hard on getting this sorted out - I'll have any updates posted here as soon as they're available.

It is fixed on my side now.

Sorted, without router reboot (wonders how many poor souls consistently rebooted their routers based on voice-mail trouble shooting instructions).

All fine for me now too. Don't mean to be dickish, but it seems suspicious that once everyone wakes up on Sunday, all the communications start going out, and the problem is fixed at roughly the same time. Makes you wonder how closely any of the engineers was actually looking at this yesterday.

Sounds like a theory. How long was it down though? Really took them an unacceptably long time IMO. I heard they were working on the problem last night so I gathered by early morning they would have fixed it. So I wanted to watch some UFC live this morning, got up at 04:30 ..(yes i know crazy right) and it was still down. Went to bed again massively cheesed off.

Simply not good enough Afri. Also poor to non existent communication to customers.

I appear to be back online, both ADSL and Mobile.

It will be interesting to know what the problem was.

Support were adamant that it was an MTN DNS issue and would be fixed in 1 or 2 Hours but AfriGinie is saying IPC which is a more plausible from an ADSL perspective but wouldn't necessarily explain why Afrihost Mobile Data was also down.

Lets see how long it stays up this time.

Not a dns issue. I was on opendns and also broken. More likely transparent http proxy or similar config

Seems fine now yeah.

My MTN mobile data, afrihost mobile data and capped service was only working on https sites from 6pm yesterday till this morning.
