Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Seem to be capped to 1/3 line speed in the south. Cancelled my business uncapped last month, will be cancelling my 300GB capped as well, since clearly there is zero improvement and other ISP accounts fly.

The one glaring omission in the discussion around increased IPC capacity, is the magnitude of the capacity increase. We've all been strung along with this promise of increased capacity, but nowhere has the extent of the increase been discussed. Was it increased by 1%? 10%? 50%? Judging by the lack of any discernible improvement, I can only conclude that the extent of the upgrade in the south was more likely in the 1% region.

There is something wrong.

Been battling the whole evening.

Failed over to webafrica .... streaming like a mofo.

Service crapped again?! Web & streaming broken. Switch to free Axxess account and it's fine.

What's up AH, iOS again? Pft.

Eish :(

borked.

From the post above it is interesting to note that:

A) All three tests were on the same line so the Telkom Copper or the Exchange can not be blamed.
B) The First and Last tests are both on the MTN network so the actual Network cannot be blamed.
C) Afrihost swears it is neither Shaping nor Over subscribed.

Points A) and B) are proven by the test, point C) is hearsay evidence from Afriman.
I think it is time we got some real facts and full disclosure from Afrihost whilst they still have a semblance of a reputation.

p.s. This is sent on My Telkom account as it actually works, unlike the Afrihost one I have been paying for but unable to use.

Why can't it just work like it used to?

Why must there be endless tracerts and diagnostic tests that essentially result in no response from support or even critical care and then glibly fobbed off via social media?

Why must it always be a teeth-pulling session to get a simple acknowledgement of something other than "just you" or "Telkom" when things go south?

Just WTF does network "settling" or "calibration" and all those other engineering sounding blurbs actually mean when accounts still perform sub-par just as they did prior to any upgrades?

Why is it impossible to get what one pays for?

Why do I always have to be the one making yet more concessions and have boundless "patience and understanding" while receiving sub-standard delivery for a service that is paid for in advance and am yet to receive?

Why is it that it must always be me in this business "relationship" that is always having to be the one "understanding" and "bearing with us" while you "learn and grow" again, and again and again?

I am really trying to grasp something positive here... but evidently failing...

EDIT:

Aaand... why is it expected of me to gush praise when you actually do what is expected of you to do... deliver on what you professed to... when THAT is the very reason I have paid you in the first place... and then I am expected to just "understand" and be "thanked for my patience" again and again, for the past 3 months, that you have failed in this regard... offering apologies and emoticons at the same time harping on "how it used to work"... and will "possibly" again... and reminding me of just "how much better your management knows me" while assuring me that I am experiencing "the best possible internet experience" at the same time....

Same here in the south. Needed a file urgently tonight and with the speeds I'm getting it would take me 12hrs to download when it could have been done in 1.
Any suggestions which ISP to move to. I am seriously considering dropping Afrihost.

My capped 100gig account is better than ever. Stable in peak and non peak hours ... Wanted to give it some time before commenting. The people experiencing problems still, are these isolated cases now or are there still issues in the south areas?

If not isolated why then some of us have seen a marked improvement while others not. Afrihost needs to explain this. Maybe some areas did not get the needed upgrades .

Easy answer to your question.

Because you keep on paying. :D

I can't stream but the speed test shows everything is fine. I thought everything should be sorted out by now. Only thing that streams right is YouTube. When I use another account everything is perfect? Is there another problem or something wrong with my account?

What other streaming services are you battling with?

The upgrade in the South was quite substantial.
Have you been in touch with our team to determine any issues?

Something is happening with International here, I'd like to have our Critical Care guys look at this with you. Not sure if you've chatted to them before?
Please PM me your info so I can get this checked out.

I'm also tired of doing endless tracerts and speed tests. When I use another account it is perfect when I use Afrihost there is a problem. YouTube is perfect but that's cause they have a data center from what I can tell. Speed tests are ok Just streaming is bad on international sites. Something seems fishy to me...

Most of YouTubes content is cached locally, so streaming internationally (especially smaller sites) that don't have global caching options will be a bit slower.
Saying that though, it shouldn't be unusable.

What sites are you battling with?

What would you like me to pm? This worked perfectly Friday and Saturday just Sunday and yesterday things went bad. I'm not home now so can't test anything as such.

Drop me a PM with your DSL username, some streams you're battling.
Any relevant info :)

I'd just like to try and replicate any issues here.

I don't think it's my username because I used another Afrihost account and it did the same thing. I can run tests or whatever tonight if you want. I'll pm you then
