I bought a few 2TB's to fill.

I was downloading literary anything just to steal the free bandwidth.

Downloaded all the rammstein live shows. A bunch of documentaries etc

The AH Network Status page says that this is resolved, but it clearly isn't. When is this going to get fixed!?

Morning Guys!

My apologies for the connectivity issues that many of our Cape users experienced over the weekend, the issues was caused by the system that handles the caching for internet traffic, it basically conked out and caused significant issues with internet traffic. HTTPS traffic was not handled by the affected system, which is why you would have seen some traffic working.

If you guys have any questions please let me know here or via PM.

Thanks!

I'm still having packet loss over PPTP VPN to my office, and increased latencies in general:
via the VPN:

I'm pretty sure that whenever I have packet loss on this VPN of mine, I'm also having packet loss in my online games that I'm playing (eg. Quake Live that uses UDP).

I find it appauling that Afrihost kept their network status page green in the Western Cape area when it was clearly not OK over the weekend.

I have been experiencing high latency on my connection for the last two weeks. Afrihost support is useless.

Every time I contact them they say they are re-syncing the line and I must reboot my router and all will be well.

Yesterday I sent through my speedtest and tracert results that shows there is a problem, but I still have not heard anything back from them.

Are you seeing the packet loss and latency during specific times of day?

Could you send me your username so that I can have a look at this.

And my apologies for the lack of a notification, my team only found out about the fault on Sunday morning, by which time the fault had been resolved.

A few years ago the status page was My first port of call if I or any of my clients reported issues. Now I no longer even bother to look at it, it has become a marketing tool "Look our Network is Perfect" rather than its intended use as an informational tool.

You get far more help and information from fellow Forum Members than you do from AH Help Desk so any issues now I come here first to see if it is a common problem befor I start fault finding my lines.

On a traceroute, where do you start to see the high latency? Would you mind posting it here? And could you please also send me your ADSL line number or username so that I can investigate on my side.
