Our Capped accounts are definitely not shaped, so it is worrisome to hear about the intermittent performance of the connection.

When the P2P downloads slow down,do you notice any increases in latency at all? Have any other services been acting up?

I agree with all those complaining, p2p traffic was showing all the signs of being shaped, and heavily. At times running less than 10% of my normal download speed. You may browse a few pages back to see my post with the shaping test.

How do I check the latency? There are no problems with any other services and as I said before when I switch over to the Telkom account the download goes at full speed with no problems.

Usually when you run a speedtest, it should also display the latency.

Alternatively, you can run a traceroute from your Command Prompt by typing in tracert afrihost.com

In my case - all (free and paid) servers are not only slow, they are floored, dead, oubrood, 0KB/s.

...and that's certainly why it appears/feels like shaping, as both ports 119 and SSL 443 cannot co-incidentally be out of order at the same time?

Those ports should definitely not be shaped at all on Capped, but as you pointed out something was definitely off. Are you able to test the speeds on NNTP now? I think I know what may have caused this.

So what I'm saying is that right now we're not shaping Uncapped users as hard as they should be. So someone who should be getting X amount of P2P traffic is actually getting X+ because he's using a traffic signature we're not classifying correctly or somehow disguising his traffic as realtime so as not to be shaped. When Uncapped users are shaped as they should be shaped, we should see less impact from demand on the network. We'll know for sure once all the planned changed have been fully implemented.

Apologies if you've answered this question already but without reading through the thread again, when will this happen by?

I don't have an ETA right now, but I do expect this will happen in the coming week hopefully. I really can't confirm until the developers and engineers have everything ready.

The speed is still inconsistent. Was okay a few minutes ago but then it dropped to below 100kbps and is now climbing back up to 200kbps. Like I said before keeps going up and down.

It is still inconsistent on the test account as well. Jumped around between 40kbps and 200kbps for the first 2 and a half minutes then went to full speed. Then it dropped right down to 1kbps after another minute and is now going at 64kbps.

I'm using Bitcomet. How do I check that? I looked under tools, options and under connection it says global max download rate and upload rate is set at unlimited. Is that the global number of connections?

uTorrent actually has a separate field for that setting, I'm trying to see if it can defined by BitComet.

Would it have anything to do with Bitcomet though because as I said in my past posts the downloads are fine when I use my Telkom data.

Restarted everything.
Connections are established, yet very low or no throughput only to timeout completely after a few minutes.

From my perspective no issues with P2P - speeds look normal.
