Who is your NNTP provider?

Sometimes they change servers or ports, and then you get no throughput until you update your server settings. Had that happen a few times for me with usenetbucket.

Afrihost and NextGenNews. Already checked. No changes.
Like I've mentioned - at 11pm last night until about 7am this morning, all was fine at full speed as it has been for the past year I've been using it. No setting changes.

Morning Guys!

I've gone through most of the Thread, and it looks like most of the queries are regarding NNTP / P2P downloads being much slower than they should have been. My own speeds definitely weren't the best, but then again my other ISP test accounts weren't much better.

I don't think it was a capacity issue to be honest, as we generally have enough bandwidth in the North over weekends, our monitoring was on the fritz as well, which I think was a contributor, as soon as I have news I will share.

I'm being effected on all downloads NNTP, P2P, HTTP even a 65mb file on the apple AppStore took nearly an hour to download.

Edit: come 11PM magically everything returns to normal. Just stop the technicians restricting our downloads and all your problems are sorted, nothing strange about what everyone is complaining about. It's as clear as daylight.

:(

What are your latencies looking at the moment? How is your streaming and other ADSL-based services?

Latency is fine, all other services except downloads running smoothly.

Tried updating an app now on my iPhone and it's downloading at max 40kbps.

AppStore app update

Download speeds as are:

13.3KB/s download 1.6KB/s upload in short bursts then back to 0KB/s. Not even getting higher than 30KB/s now.

Download speed jumps up and down but never higher than 40kbps.

Thanks!

Something does seem to be amiss, we're checking a few things from our side, hopefully we'll have you back at full speed promptly.

Test accounts with Web Africa and Crystal Web download at full line speed so it's not my router or ADSL line.

:(

There should definitely not be shaping in affect on our Capped accounts, but something does appear to be off with NNTP downloads. Are the downloads coming from the Afrihost News Server slow? Or is it all of your downloads in general?

I thought the problem would have received attention by now :(.
It's been raised by me and others on this thread... and just a few posts up .

It's only NNTP that's an issue. I don't use torrents so can't tell you if there's anything up with them.

This is why people are leaving.

How long have you been getting those sorts of results?

Is your connection consistently at that level?

I've tried telling you this many many many times. The Loss has been around since before you guys upgraded your bandwidth management software.

At what level?
