Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

The Uncapped accounts definitely have a Fair-usage Policy, but from our side we specifically state that we will only shape P2P-type traffic, and simply tracking usage isn't an accurate way to track offenders, as they can legitimately use their bandwidth for Streaming.

That's why we've given this amount of time to making sure we shape P2P traffic correctly on Uncapped, to keep any miss-use to an absolute minimum.

Thanks for all the time and effort you guys are putting into this, I just hope it gets sorted out soon!

What other thread uncapped? Difference is this is the capped thread. I shouldn't even have to post this here.

I am 100% in agreement! Our Capped users should by all means expect the best performance possible for their connection, this is why we are pushing hard to sort things out on our side, and get you the best possible performance.

Your speeds should definitely be running better than that by now, can you please send me a PM with your account details so that I can look into this for you.

We implemented more changes last night, and will continue to do so until everyone is happy with everything. If you turbocharge do things improve?

Implemented changes about 20 days ago...

The network guys have been making changes throughout the day, so they must have addressed this somewhere in the changes they've implemented.

Making changes 18 Days ago...

STILL making changes these days and there are STILL problems...

It is an ongoing process, we've made some definite progress, and at times we've had to take a step back, but we're definitely closer to a complete solution than we have ever been.

You joking right? Can we all take a step back from payment!

Over a month to address an issue and you feel that's acceptable? Sorry to say but if you worked in my customer support SA would have another job opening.

So, It's an ongoing process to fix the issues.

Why is the Network Status page NOT updated then?

There have been definite improvements, but I can't deny that there have been moments when performance took a dip in general. I'm in agreement with you, it definitely isn't cool that it happened, but I can't refute that these dips happened.

So the Dips in network performance must be updated on your websites status pages so clients know that there are issues you are attending to.

No, that's a management decision. In their little bubble everything is fine on the network.

I believe AfriMan has gone into depth about how we are addressing and dealing with the situation. We're keeping our MyBB as up to date as possible.

I know we have some internal work to do, but we also still have to distinguish between general everyday problems like line faults, congested exchanges and account problems, so that we don't have clients having a poor experience that can be resolved or improved now, or make sure that we're looking in the right place to resolve their queries.

I dont think it's very easy to know what a client's level of tech proficiency is from a support ticket or even a phone call, so that's maybe something that we can think of for the future (like a client rating system). That may actually help us, but it would be a long term thing. Remember that there are far more clients who don't know what a router is or how to change their passwords, so it's difficult to make any assumptions in terms of support, where the opposite is true here on MyBB, which is why we try to share more technical information here wherever we can.

But if you are having network issues, You must update your network status page otherwise you are lying to your customers that "Our DSL Broadband network is running like a bomb! Everything is copacetic and we’re good to GO!"

But it isn't running like a bomb if you are either struggling to Tag traffic correctly, or running out of network capacity and people are complaining of poor speeds.

If people are complaining on Mybb, Your ticket system, call center must be getting hundreds of calls regarding the issues.

But no, everything is just "copacetic".

AfriGenie you asked me to send a detailed PM with my current problem. Can I get a progress update from the PM and not another question from something I already indicated in the initial message?

It's been two days since I sent the PM.

:(

Now, the responses that you received are very disappointing. I've sent you a PM.

Good luck getting a refund.
I've logged a call, got asked for more trace routes. PM'd AfriGenie who wanted the ticket number and still nothing.

Even though the reps here are saying there is an issue, getting any compensation is impossible. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Afrihost is making OpenWeb look like a decent place with all these shady lies and AfriRunAround.

Our Account's Team is still processing your request at the moment, I've asked them to try speed it up as much as possible.

NNTP still very erratic on AH news server - spikes for a few minutes and then times out for hours... Any news?

P2P test - same story. Up, down, all over the show.

Sanity check on WebAfrica test account does not render similar speed problems.

As said before, even on capped I schedule any downloads to late night until 6am.

YET, if I would like to use my capped 'unshaped' account to download something outside of 'nightsurfer' time, it seems that I am now being penalised for some uncapped pimplenose's download fetish which AH cannot control.
Calling it 'contention' is understandable from a marketing perspective, but the right thing would be to add a disclaimer to the capped offering stating (in layman's terms) that ultimately, one could (and most likely will) still suffer when the entire network including all the abusers aren't under perfect control, which seems to be rarely possible...

Hey guys,

Anyone experiencing "lag" on GTA 5 online, Like people teleporting around on my screen, but with another ISP account everything is 100% fine. Is there a by means any other way to fix the problem with my Afrihost account?

Regards!

My download of iOS apps are still slow still waiting for answer on my ticket

Youtube completely down?

EDIT - Came back now, well sort of! Slow as can be with CrystalWeb running perfectly?!!

EDIT2 - And now seems to be back up to normal speeds. Ai this up and down crap is getting to me :(
