Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Going to sound mean but im glad its not just me.
I literally have to alt+f4 the game every 10 min or so just to reset the lat.

Hey afri. Im also having issues with streaming youtube. And have to restart my router. Once a day for the past 3 days.

Very erratic performance.

Cape town; Strand

Getting weird latency issues here in EL as well. Download speeds don't seem to be affected (just takes time to start some DL's). But websites are taking forever at times to load. Also, can't game either.

Same here, had a few issues with Warframe (if I was host I would be giving others in my party pings of 1000ms+), twitch is struggling to load whichever stream I'm trying to watch, been happening for the past 3-4 days. Other things such as youtube or downloads seem to fine, for now. Used the AH app to test pings/traceroutes and everything seems fine so not sure what the issue is here.

Yeah that's the worst part, Tracerts and Pings all return normal results. It makes us seem like we're mad.

That's not good to hear! :( Are you still seeing the buffering?
Its been sporadic the past 3 days... didn't do any tests to add here but just found it strange as its normally flawless... I get 1440p when available almost immediately on my 10mb line (12mb on Interleaved mode) so to see the "mother buffer circle" was almost a strange anomaly for me Lol!

I'll do some testing when and if it acts up again tonight and paste results

Same with me in Port Elizabeth over the last few days. My ADSL capped 2MB sometimes full speed, other times dead stop.

Are you seeing high latency? Any tests I could take a look at?

Sites like Youtube, Facebook, Instagram. Im getting the same issue with Webafrica. Starting happening also about 3 days ago.

Hey Afri, is there any updates on these latency issues ?
Its becoming more and more sporadic, gaming is becoming almost unplayable.
Latency just sky rockets then settles back down to normal for a few moments. Can't stream anything on any website with a 20mb line, everything either buffers or fails to load.

Seems like a problem that's being experienced across the country

Our tests can't reveal anything. It all seems normal

having the same issues latency spikes all the time since the last 4-5 days

Speeds keeping dropping over the past few days. Works for a bit then suddenly everything times out - Cape Town

Also slow speeds, on 40mbps vdsl, line is syncing at 45mbps. Even Netflix is buffering the last three days. Normally it is flawless. Must be ipc related.

I can also confirm, being in PE - the speeds seem to be continuously fluctuating for the last 3 days. one moment the speed is 45kb/s, then 8,9mb/s, then a few minutes later, rinse and repeat. :( Constant buffering every now and then, cannot even listen to my music stream.

I'm tearing my hair out on this one as well. It's a far more widespread issue than just Afrihost. Line stats are great, but having the same issues on Afrihost, Axxess, WA and Vox.

Some sites I visit frequently often load exceptionally slowly, don't finish loading, or don't load at all.

Sites like Youtube, MyBroadband, RARU, Loot, Takealot, Sharenet and quite a few others, are giving me constant intermittent loading issues.

I've ruled out my equipment by changing it out completely, tried alternative DNS servers, and even changed from ADSL2 to regular ADSL to see if that would work.

So far the only thing which completely "solves" the problem is using my 3G stick.

Speedtests and Tracerts all look perfect, so no faults to report.

My hands are tied, but it looks like I'm not alone in this. Lots of complaints, but nobody seems to know what's actually wrong. :(

Really wish we could have a answer as to what the problem is.

Same here. I was going to upgrade my line with Afrihost to 20Mb in March, now I'm rather going to stick with my 4Mb line until ths issue blows over.
