Afrihost Data on MTN prepaid only now

So we had Afrihost data for years but turned it off at the start of lockdown as we where home on wifi all the time. Now that we are going out more I tried to re-enable the data contract and am unable to as apparently from the end of September it only works for pre-pad SIMS, not contract Sims for MTN anymore. After trying and failing for almost a month an Afrihost support person finally told me this last night.

Seriously disappointing! Surprised there has been so little news on this. Curious to know if its only for new signups, so existing customers can continue or not.
