...this time with prices from R9.50 per Gb for their unshaped ADSL offerings.

This is limited offer, so if you want some cheap-cheap bandwidth, now is the time to be like a little piggy and buy a 3-for-1 special.

Who said their business model was unsustainable now again? :D

I bought that 3 for one special the other day my latency was WORSE than Mwebs uncapped. Surely thats not unshaped?

AfriHost doing it for the consumer again ... gr8 stuff!

Just battling to use up my cap this month. Only 3.5Gb of 15 used. :o

yeah, i noticed it the other day too. i'm using afrihost for a backup connection.
haven't had any noticable latency issues this side...

Latency is pretty bad.. download is good, but upload also not so good

But... paying R9/ gig is what the standard should be.

I cannot understand that people would actually go for these R99 uncapped accounts running at 384 and shaped to death.. surely for R100 one should get 10gb of bandwidth with way better quality and at any speed.

I reckon by the end of the year R10/gb will be the norm.

That would be Matthew Tagg, CEO of Web Africa ...

He said uncapped products was not really sustainable and that turned out to be quite true. The uncapped products are throttled to death (and everyone on here is complaining about it) otherwise those ISPs would not have been able to offer them in the first place. Capped accounts are much more stable and speeds remain constant, but you pay more for it. I tried MWeb and Afrihost uncapped, ended up going back to WebAfrica's capped since it was more reliable and the performance was by far the best.

Different strokes for different folks... I only use my uncapped account after hours and on weekends so it suites me fine. For R199/m I get around 30Gb/m so it works out at around R6,60/Gb. That's good enough for me (at the moment).

If I need better latency, etc. then I revert to my capped Telkom account that is bundled with my Closer package.
