Hey peeps,

My 8ta contract runs out in Feb (thank god).

Want to get either 1mb or 2mb line but problem is I don't have a DSL line.

I've emailed Afrihost but no reply yet. Wanted to know if they can do it for me or if I need to go through Telkom.

How much in advance should I request the installation?

Thanks!

AFAIK you need to get a telkom line installed first to apply for DSL.
No phone line=no DSL
I would say from personal experience is that you should apply for a normal phone line first and then when the line is installed you can apply for ADSL through telkom first.
Once the ADSL line is active you can call up Afrihost and ask them to move the line to Afrihost. It takes a week max normally and you won't have any interruption in your service during this time.

Once again remember the only thing that changes with your DSL line when you move your line to Afrihost is the billing aspect. Nothing else
So instead of getting the adsl line on your telkom bill you will get it on your Afrihost account.

Heya!

Thanks for thinking about it :)
As Louis72 mentions, you'll need to have Telkom install a normal voice line on your premises. We can't have this installed for you I'm afraid. Once that's all done we can order an ADSL service for you and have it activated :) When Telkom contacts you to say the line has been activated you can just contact us and purchase a bundle :)

Remember when you're requesting the line from Telkom to only request a voice line.
