For all ping tests, the device was tethered to my PC via USB to avoid any WiFi delays, and the modems were placed in the identical location (On my desk next to my keyboard - Chosen at random)

Ping parameters: -l 1 -t -w 5000 were used.

Verdict: AfriHost needs to realise that the MTN network sucks.
Winner: Telkom Mobile (By miles)

So at location X Telkom HSPA+ outperforms MTN 2G? Fair competition is fair.

What ld13 said.

I have poor reception at home. Doesn't mean that all those providers suck. My reception does.

I am not sure if MDMA works on the device but if it does force your connection to make use of 3G - what I have noticed with dongles/usb modems that some have a weak signal and others strong signal. Smartphone will only show 1 bar but on the dongle 4 signal bars.

I make use of several providers (Vodacom,8ta/Telkom Mobile, Cell C) the winner for me goes to 8ta/Telkom Mobile stable, always functioning. Did use M-WEB back in the days in my area and it worked perfectly but haven't used them in over 2years.

Remember that 8ta/telkom mobile base stations aren't congestion. Just imagine over 300 people in your area making use of 8ta/base station you will notice your connection drops drastically.
